 The Department of Posts has published a draft amendment to the Post Office Act, 2023 to introduce a digital, standardised addressing framework known as DHRUVA. The initiative is designed to make address sharing interoperable, user-centric and suited to India’s expanding digital ecosystem.  

DHRUVA, short for Digital Hub for Reference and Unique Virtual Address, proposes replacing traditional textual addresses with virtual labels similar to email or UPI handles.

CRIME & PUNISHMENT:

Delhi Police has arrested 16 gangsters and notorious criminals in the national capital and its adjoining areas. In order to curb organised crime across Delhi-NCR, Delhi Police carried out a large-scale night operation comprising over eight hundred fifty police personnel.

At least 18 migrants killed as inflatable boat sinks south of Greek island of Crete; 2 rescued.

The half-sunken boat was located on Saturday by a passing Turkish merchant vessel, authorities said. Two survivors were rescued and a rescue operation to find more was ongoing.
