  TMC &  RECENT DRAMA SARASIJ MAJUMDER   ACT-I: Scene—I|| HIGH COURT: Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee made a highly dramatic appearance at the Calcutta High Court on Thursday, May 14, 2026, dressed in a traditional black lawyer's gown and attire. She personally appeared before a bench led by Chief Justice Sujoy Paul to argue a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) concerning alleged widespread post-poll violence following the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.   A TMC-backed PIL was filed alleging targeted attacks on party workers, offices, and minorities. She arrived at the high court around 10:20 AM accompanied by senior party leaders, including Chandrima Bhattacharya. The visit triggered heavy political friction on-site, with opposition lawyers and critics shouting anti-TMC slogans like "Chor Chor" (thief, thief) outside the courtroom premises. FORECAST OF 1991 ELECTION

In 1991, Illustrated Weekly of India, a famous English weekly news magazine, did one unthinkable feat---

The magazine consulted nine famous astrologers for a cover story entitled 'What the stars foretell...’ to predict the outcome of the 1991 elections in its May 25-31 edition.

All nine astrologers predicted Rajiv Gandhi would play a prominent role in future Politics of INDIA, and WORLD. While six of them were damn sure that he would be the next Prime Minister.

Here are terrific predictions from some of them:--

  • 'Rajiv Gandhi’s horoscope is very good and I don't foresee the possibility of a Congress without him at the helm,' — Astrologer Jagjit Uppal
  • 'The planetary positions are all favourable for Rajiv Gandhi and the Congress.' — Astrologer K.N. Saraswathi.
  • ‘Gandhi would win the elections and become prime minister but would suffer a 'steady decline in his powers after one year’ — Astrologer PJS Giani.
  • ‘Rajiv Gandhi will be India's next prime minister. He will be far better and correct all his earlier shortcomings. Our country will become an industrial giant within five years.’ — Astrologer Prayag Bandyopadhyay.
  • ‘During the life of the 10th Lok Sabha, Rajiv Gandhi will have a tremendous effect on global politics.’ — Astrologer AK Raja.

Only one had a slightly differing opinion. He said: ‘None of the leaders of the major parties will become the next prime minister. Someone like Shankar Dayal Sharma, India Vice President, will be the PM after the 1991 elections.’

However, the fact is:-

Just few days after their prediction and four days before the issue came out on May 25 1991, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi lost his life in a suicidal Bomb Blast by a woman from LTTE.

I visited the Rajiv Gandhi bomb site, much later, where a memorial is erected. The image at LHT of this page is taken at Memorial, built in stone , depicting  the sad incident, and mood.
