  BUDGET 2025 AT A GLANCE SOME KEY PROVISIONS SARASIJ MAJUMDER   1.       10,000 additional seats to be inculcated in Medical Institutes in one year; 75,000 additional   medical seats will be created in next 5 years. 2.       100 GW target for Nuclear Power Generation by 2047. 3.       40,000 new houses will be added under Swayam Housing scheme. 4.       50 New Tourists’ destination will be developed by next year . 5.       A Maritime Development Fund with a corpus of ₹ 25,000 crore to be set up, with up to 49 per cent contribution by the Government, and the balance from ports and private sector. 6.       Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) : 50,000 such labs are to be set up in government schools in 5 years.   DELHI AND IT’S GARBAGE AN ADMINISTRATIVE MESS SARASIJ MAJUMDER INTRODUCTION : Central government disclosed data before two-judge Supreme Court bench during hearing of PIL on rising pollution levels in NCR & nearby areas. Over 14,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste is generated in Delhi-NCR each day, Centre tells SC. The above, and more such details related to waste management in Delhi and NCR are part of a central government affidavit filed in the Supreme Court. There are 3 landfill sites namely Bhalswa, Ghazipur and Okhla. Bhalswa landfill site were commissioned in the year 1994, Ghazipur in 1984 and Okhla in 1996. INSTRUCTION FROM JUDICIARY:   Taking note of the affidavit, a bench led by Justice Abhay S. Oka termed the situation of solid waste management in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Alwar and Greater Noida, as “ HORRIBLE ”.   MAN MADE DISASTER NATURE’S RESPONSE AT WAYANAD WESTERN GHAT GETTING DESTROYED SARASIJ MAJUMDER The devastating landslides resulted in the deaths of over 289 people and injuries to more than 300 in WAYANAD district, KERALA.   Mr. Shah expressed condolences to the families affected and emphasized the need for non-political discourse on this issue. The above figures are likely to rise, as rescue operations are on. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan described it as one of the worst disasters in the state’s history . I think  he starts and   ends his responsibility in that line!!   BHOPAL GAS TRAGEDY--I GHULAM DASTAGIR: AN UNSUNG HERO SARASIJ MAJUMDER He was the Deputy Station Superintendent of Bhopal Junction on December 3rd 1984. Yes, the Night Bhopal Gas tragedy happened. Unfortunately for him and fortunately for so many, he stayed there to complete some pending work. At midnight when he stepped on to the platform, he felt an itch in his throat and burning sensation in his eyes. He rushed to his Station Superintendent's office, but he was dead already. The Gorakhpur - Mumbai express train with more than 1000 passengers on board was waiting on the platform, for which the departure time was 20 minutes away. Trusting his instincts, he knew something was clearly wrong. He summoned his staff and told them to clear the train for departure.
