India is all set to host the 18th BRICS Summit beginning
this Saturday at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The two day Summit will bring
together eleven major emerging and developing economies, including Brazil,
China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, India, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South
Africa, and the UAE. Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria,
Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam will participate as the BRICS Partner
Countries.
BRICS collectively represents around 49 per cent of the
world’s population, and about 40 per cent of global GDP.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs proposed a new
constitutional provision, described as Chapter K under Article 371, for Ladakh
on 9 September 2026 in a sub-committee meeting in New Delhi. The proposal
relates to a directly elected Union Territory-level governing body for Ladakh
and to subjects such as land, culture, language, forests, environment, and
other matters linked with Article 240 of the Constitution.
The 'Gujarat Livestock Feed, Poultry Feed and Mineral
Mixture (Regulation of Production, Storage, Distribution, Sale and Quality
Control) Bill-2026', introduced in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly by Animal
Husbandry Minister Jitubhai Vaghani, was passed unanimously by the House.
In Tamil Nadu, by-elections for Madurantakam and Dharapuram
Reserved Assembly constituencies will be held on 6th October.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has
unveiled the Aadhaar Face Authentication Software Development Kit (SDK) and
Aadhaar Face Authentication Sandbox at the Global Fintech Fest 2026. The
newly-launched products aim to enable financial institutions and fintech
companies as well as other agencies and organizations to use the Aadhaar Face
Authentication in their digital applications.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to launch a large-scale
public awareness campaign against drug abuse in Punjab from September 18.
Maharashtra: Toll-free travel for vehicles carrying Ganesh
devotees to Konkan begins today and continues through September 27.

Assembly Passes Contentious University Transfer Bill. The
West Bengal Assembly officially passed the West Bengal Universities and
Colleges (Administration and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 by a voice vote.
The new legislation empowers the state government to mandate the
inter-university transfer of both teaching and non-teaching staffers from one
state university to another state university.
High-Profile Arrest in Salboni Land Grab Case: The Supreme
Court of India officially refused to grant pre-arrest bail to Sumit Roy, the
personal assistant to TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, in connection with the
ongoing Salboni land grab investigation.
CID Arrest: Soon after the apex court's ruling, a team of
West Bengal Crime Investigation Department (CID) officials and state police
cordoned off and swarmed Abhishek Banerjee's Kalighat residence, arresting
Sumit Roy on the spot and transferring him to the state police headquarters at
Bhawani Bhawan for custodial interrogation.
Following recent stringent safety checks after a fatal fire
incident, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation issued temporary closure notices to
919 hotels and guest houses across the capital city for failing to comply with
mandatory fire safety protocols. Out of 960 establishments inspected, only 41
met the final compliance requirements.
In addition--40
prominent restaurants, eateries, and sweet shops in Kolkata have had their food
licenses temporarily suspended and operations closed. More inspections are
scheduled.
India and Russia yesterday held talks on joint production of
civil passenger planes, and potential deliveries and arrangements for 105
regional turboprop aircraft to Indian operators. India’s Civil Aviation
Minister Ram Mohan Naidu held discussions with Russia’s Industry and Trade
Minister Anton Alikhanov on joint manufacturing of civil passenger aircraft to
meet country’s demand for regional air connectivity, in New Delhi.
India's Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has
waived landing charges for international passenger flights introducing new
routes to the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).
Prime Minister Modi yesterday spoke to German Chancellor
Friedrich Merz. In a social media post, the Prime Minister said, as India and
Germany celebrate 75 years of their diplomatic relations, both the countries
reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen Strategic Partnership across
trade and investment, defence, clean energy, advanced technologies and talent
mobility.
Massive Investment in Germany: The UAE announced plans for a
landmark €40 billion investment in Germany to deepen economic ties. The package
includes a specific €10 billion allocation earmarked for the region of Bavaria.
BRICS Summit 2026: Leaders including China's Xi Jinping,
Russia's Vladimir Putin, and Iran's Masoud Pezeshkian are heading to India for
the upcoming BRICS summit. Geopolitical analysts note that the intensifying
Gulf conflict is set to serve as the central fault line testing the unity of
the newly expanded BRICS GROUP, which now includes both Iran and the UAE.
China and Philippines Exchange Words Over South China Sea.
China accused the Philippines today of “stirring up trouble.” The rebuke came
after Philippines Défense Minister Gilberto Teodoro Jr. sharply criticized
China for not recognizing a 2016 arbitration panel’s ruling that its maritime
claims had no legal basis.
Bangladesh Struggles With Measles Outbreak. The country’s
health authorities reported more than 166,000 suspected cases since March.
Nearly 1,000 children are suspected to have died from the illness, despite an
emergency vaccination campaign.
The Ministry of Interior of Thailand has said that Indian
tourists holding ordinary passports are exempt from visa requirements and
permitted to stay in Thailand not exceeding 30 days.
India has joined a global 6G network initiative with the
United States and 24 other nations, focusing on secure, competitive and
innovative next-generation wireless technology.1. As Nepal's cooking gas shortage continues to
disrupt daily life, students in Kathmandu took their cooking pots to the
streets, turning the entrance of Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus into a makeshift
kitchen to protest the crisis.
The conflict in West Asia saw a significant development with
the emerging situation in Yemen. Houthi forces have reportedly made advances
along Yemen’s Red Sea coast.
Israel opened its first embassy in Slovenia, deepening ties
with the European Union nation as relations with some long-time allies

WAR: -
Shipping Lanes Under Fire: The conflict has shifted
aggressively into commercial Gulf shipping lanes.
Naval Warfare: A major escalation occurred overnight as US
forces reportedly destroyed five Iranian crude carriers. In retaliation, Iran
claimed responsibility for attacking 10 ships near the Strait of Hormuz.
Separate projectile strikes hit two vessels near Khasab, Oman, and a cargo ship
off the coast of Iraq.
Regional Interceptions: The Jordanian Armed Forces announced
their air defences engaged 20 incoming ballistic missiles, successfully
intercepting and destroying 18 of them.
Political Rhetoric: US President Donald Trump stated that
the US-Iran war will not end until after the US midterm elections. Iranian
authorities have declared a strict maritime restricted area extending from
Chabahar into parts of the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
UAE Aviation &
Regional Flight Disruptions: Flight Suspensions Extended: The regional security
situation continues to heavily impact aviation. Air France extended its
suspension of flights to and from Dubai until September 15. The Lufthansa Group
also pushed its Dubai, SWISS, and Eurowings flight suspensions out through
October 24, though its Frankfurt-Riyadh service successfully resumed on
September 10.
Airport Delays: Significant flight delays and schedule
adjustments are affecting travellers at both Dubai International Airport and
Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport, although local carriers like Emirates,
Etihad, flydubai, and Air Arabia continue operating key regional routes.
NEPAL
FLOOD:
As of September 10, 2026, the Nepal government has
officially requested $5 billion in international aid to fund rebuilding and
recovery operations following the catastrophic August 26 flash floods. Prime
Minister Balendra Shah convened an emergency Cabinet meeting in Kathmandu to
fast-track relief and rehabilitation.
The disaster has left 1,377 people confirmed dead, 5,130
missing (including about 600 foreigners), and 13,656 individuals successfully
rescued.
Operations at the Tunnels & Hydropower Sites Specialised
Tunnel Teams: Heavy rescue focus is concentrated on the Chilime tunnel and
other mud-swallowed hydropower facilities like Langtang, Upper Trishuli, and
Rasuwagadhi. Specialised rescue units from India, China, and South Korea are
operating on-site.
Operational Hurdles: Rescuers are facing extreme
complications due to steep tunnel inclines and thick sludge. Teams are actively
building makeshift access paths to transport heavy excavators directly to the
tunnel entrances, a task expected to take another two to three days.
International Aid & Shipments: India’s 8th Aid Flight:
The Indian Air Force landed its eighth relief aircraft in Kathmandu, bringing
India's total contribution past 130 tonnes of supplies. The latest shipment
includes mud rescue suits, gas detectors, breathing apparatus, dewatering
pumps, and specialized DNA profiling kits for victim identification.
Japan’s Emergency Grant: The Government of Japan formally
approved a $3 million emergency grant. The funds will be distributed via the
World Food Programme (WFP), the IFRC, and the IOM to provide immediate food,
health support, and water sanitation.
Global Solidarity: Massive logistics operations are being
supported by a wide array of international partners, including the UAE, the US,
the UK, Australia, Malaysia, and the European Union.
Critical Infrastructure & Delivery Innovations: The
Drone Airlift: Because major highways and bridges remain entirely severed, the
Nepali Army has heavily integrated high-capacity cargo drones to fly food,
medicine, and fuel across the Trishuli River to cut-off communities. These
drones carry up to 60 kg per trip.
Restoring Connectivity: Ground engineers successfully opened
the Acrow Bridge over the Tadi River at Devighat along the Galchhi–Trishuli
road section. This has restored a critical logistical artery for driving aid
trucks closer to the hardest-hit zones.

BLA Claims Major Casualties: In complete contrast to the
state's narrative, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) issued a weekly statement
claiming responsibility for 28 operations between September 1 and 7. The BLA
claims to have killed 52 Pakistani military personnel and injured several
others across 12 districts, including Quetta, Turbat, and Gwadar, while
acknowledging the loss of 12 of their own fighters.
6,353 Days of Protest: The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons
(VBMP) camp outside the Quetta Press Club marked its 6,353rd consecutive day of
protest.

CRIME & PUNISHMENT:
The government has amended the Consumer Protection
(E-Commerce) Rules 2020, to tighten norms on price transparency, sponsored
listings, search manipulation and dark
patterns. Under the amended rules, e-commerce entities will have to disclose
the reduced price and prior price whenever a price cut is announced. The prior
price has been defined as the lowest price at which the product was offered in
the 30 days before the discount was announced.
The Punjab government has decided to drop the show-cause
notices issued to officers and employees who were marked absent without
authorisation, according to an official order issued by the Department of
General Administration on Thursday. IT WILL SET

A Delhi court on Thursday ordered framing of money
laundering charges against RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Bihar Chief
Minister Rabri Devi and party leader Tejashwi Yadav in the alleged IRCTC hotel
scam case.
Ladakh Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra said on Thursday that
neither statehood nor a Union Territory (UT) with a legislature is being
offered to Ladakh; instead, it will be a sui generis model, a unique body under
the Constitution that will have legislative, executive, and financial powers.

The Gujarat Government has completed DNA sample collection
from the relatives of 29 of the 30 people from the state, including
Non-Resident Gujaratis (NRGs), who remain missing or uncontactable following
the flash floods in Nepal, particularly along the Nepal-Tibet border and the
Bhote Koshi River corridor.
In Gujarat, 15 workers trapped after a portion of an
under-construction building collapsed in the Kudasan area of the capital,
Gandhinagar, were rescued safely. The state government said there were no
casualties after a war-footing rescue operation late at night.
In Bihar, despite a
steady decline in river levels, flood conditions continue to affect several
parts of the state. Around 44 lakh people across 14 districts remain affected
by the floods.
In China, twenty people were killed yesterday when a fire
broke out on a foreign-flagged cargo ship undergoing repairs in the eastern
port city of Qingdao.
TECHNOLOGY:
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) conducted a
flight acceptance hot test of the indigenous CE20 cryogenic engine at an
uprated thrust level of 220 kN. on 9 September 2026.

Championship, bagging four medals including one gold, two silver and one bronze
