Geneva, 18 December 2025: The year 2025 emerged as the deadliest year for journalists since the beginning of the century, after 2024. According to the tally of the Press Emblem Campaign (PEC), 161 media professionals were killed in 31 countries (179 in 2024). At least 60 journalists were killed in the Gaza Strip, almost all of them victims of Israeli strikes. Since the start of hostilities triggered by Hamas on 7 October 2023, at least 221 Palestinian media personnel have been killed in Gaza (81 in 2023, 80 in 2024, 60 in 2025). The war between Ukraine and Russia has resulted in the deaths of nine journalists, who were killed by either Ukrainian or Russian fire. Three Ukrainian journalists were killed, as was French journalist Antoni Lallican in Ukraine, and five Russian journalists were killed by Ukrainian fire in the border regions...

  HALDWANI RIOTS UTTARAKHAND C.M.’S STRONG RESPONSE SARASIJ MAJUMDER On February 8, 2024, violent clashes erupted in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, following the court-ordered demolition of an unauthorized madrasa and mosque situated in the Banbhoolpura area, predominantly inhabited by Muslims. A tussle over illegal structure in the Banbhoolpura area snowballed into a full-blown  riot when a state team tried to raze the buildings following a court order. This move was met with fierce resistance from a mob. Miscreants pelted stones and set a few vehicles on fire in the area. Curfew has been imposed in Haldwani to maintain law and order situation, while internet services have also been suspended in the city. Police said most of the injured were hospitalised after the violence in the city’s Banbhoolpura area were police personnel and municipal workers involved in the demolition of a local madrasa. Pakistan claims that J-10C jets, equipped with PL-15 missiles, were used in combat, and that they downed multiple Indian Rafale and other fighter jets. GOI has not accepted any loss of Fighter Jet. In simple language—‘One Life is not good enough to understand the mind of a Woman’—that is what, Devyani—the heroine of the poem said to Koch, her beloved. And I agree after completing 46 years of married life! However, based on my experience—I wanted to write an article on the subject, sharing my understanding for Romeos of future generations.
