WHAT—IF SARASIJ MAJUMDER Congress leader Rajeev Shukla had said that if Narendra Modi was not the Prime Minister then America would never have invited him....!! Honorable Shukla Ji and Congressmen, now I will further extend this "WHAT-IF"… 1) If Rahul Gandhi was not Sonia's son, he would have been a peon in some office today, whether in UK, India, or Italy, is debatable. Remember- Sonia advised him not give Blood to test and confirm DNA of Rajiv’s remains ...!! 2) If Sonia was not Rajiv's wife, she would have retired as a bar maid from some bar in Europe...!! 3) If Rajiv was not Indira Gandhi's son, he might have at best retired someday as a "pilot" of some Airlines...!! 4) If Indira Gandhi had not been Nehru's daughter, she still might have died natural death as an widow—No Emergency happened. No SIKH genocide. No Bhindranwala, and perhaps no Khalistan…BANGLADESH?? That needs a separate BLOG. 5) If Mohandas wouldn’t have been k

BAOBAB TREES The Trees of Life. SARASIJ MAJUMDER In the midst of subtropical India, there exists a small group of Baobab trees that are far away from their original habitat. Mandu, a town located in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, India, is home to a unique wonder known as Mandu ki Imli, also called the Baobab Tree. The baobab is a grand, gorgeous tree which grows to a monumental size of up to 50 metres in width, often hollowing out after it reaches maturity. The texture and size of the trunk has given it the epithet Hatiyan Ka Jhad or elephant-sized tree in Hyderabad. Until April 2017, a baobab in Limpopo in South Africa was famous for the pub housed inside it . Baobab trees grow in 32 African countries and are prolific in the Sahel. Drought-resistant, they thrive in even the most degraded land, sequestering carbon and fighting desertification caused by water and soil erosion. GENERAL BAIJU BAKRA GARHWAL RIFLES SARASIJ MAJUMDER This incident happened before India became independent. At that time there was a training centre of Garhwal Rifle in Lansdowne. At that time, the British rule was waging wars with countries like France, Germany, Burma, Afghanistan etc., hence the Garhwal Rifle platoon also had to participate in the war at those places as per the rule of the government. At this time, wherever the Garhwali soldiers were sent to war, they used to come back proud of their bravery. At one such time, to suppress the rebellion in Afghanistan, the soldiers of "Garhwal Rifle" along with other military units were sent to the "Chitral" area of Afghanistan. On reaching Chitral Afghanistan, the commander explained the map to the soldiers and asked the troops to move forward from different directions. All the troops had to move forward covering a very large area and meet at one place. In the rugged and unknown region there, a p

STORY OF PEDONGI—THE MULE SARASIJ MAJUMDER This is yet another amazing but lesser-known story (a fact) from the Indian Army. This is the story of a brave soldier who defied death and showed tremendous loyalty towards Indian Army. This is the story of Pedongi ! The Indian Army has an Animal Transport Unit which, as per report, maintains 6000 - 8000 mules. They mules are used for transporting food, weapons, ammunition and for riding in the difficult terrains. The hybrid equines are a cross of Mare and Jack. In 1962, one such mule, a bay mare of Spanish breed, was inducted into the 853 Animal Transport Company of the Army Service Corps, when she was only 4 years old. Mules are generally not given any names. They are identified by their hoof numbers and this new recruit was identified as Hoof Number 15328. After training, she was deployed in the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir. Yes, the same year India suffered that humiliating defeat in the hands of the Chinese. The job
