RANI KARNAVATI OF GARHWAL- “NAK KATI RANI”

Image
RANI KARNAVATI OF GARHWAL “NAK KATI RANI” SARASIJ MAJUMDER   There are many blunders in the teaching and writing of Indian history by the Historians of Nehruvian Era.   The losers are Indian school students. They couldn’t know about our courageous legacy. Under many of the Muslim Education Ministers during Dynastic Rule,   the Historians   were   obsessed with the exploits of the Muslim and Mughal invaders rather than the glorious deeds of our brave defenders. More pages are written on ALEXANDER, than ‘KING PORUS’. Greek historians wrote a fiction, and we parroted it in our history books!! Unfortunately, no Indian chronicled the battle of Hydaspes. The problem gets compounded in India by the fact that our past historians tend to ignore the history of the regions far away from Delhi or the big adjoining   cities. What is even a bigger tragedy is the fact that the role of brave women in Indian history hardly    ( if they do) find pa...

THE AHOM DYNASTY-ASSAM

Image
THE AHOM DYNASTY-ASSAM 1228–1826 (598 years) SARASAIJ MA JUMDER The Ahom dynasty (1228–1826) established Ahom Kingdom, which was ruled by the Ahom Kings in present-day Assam, India for   598 years. The dynasty was established by CHAOLUNG SUKAPHAA. According to Phukan (1992) who has tried to develop a consistent account, Sukaphaa was born to Chao Chang-Nyeu (alias Phu-Chang-Khang) and Nang-Mong Blak-Kham-Sen in the Tai state of Mong Mao (also called Mao-Lung, with the capital at Kieng Sen), close to present-day Ruili in Yunnan, China. He came to Assam in the 13 th Century   after crossing the Patkai mountains,   liked the place, and settled there. The Tai prince used farming and not war, to establish the   kingdom that ran 600 years..!! Ahom kingdom! Which was one of the longest running kingdoms in India! The rule of this dynasty ended with the Burmese invasion of Assam and the subsequent annexation by the British East India Company following the Tre...

SOME FACTS ABOUT PARSIA / IRAN

Image
SOME FACTS ABOUT 'PERSIA' / IRAN ALSO KNOWN AS 'PARASYA' SARASIJ MAJUMDER   IRAN is today on the NEWS for all wrong reasons. Let us look at the some of the ancient GLORIES of the place. It is a nice place to visit—only problem is, if you ever visit IRAN, you may not get VISA for many countries including USA. I off course visited in early nineties, and enjoyed my stay. 1. Iran is home to one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities, Susa. and part of the site is still inhabited as Shush, Khuzestan Province, Iran. Excavations have uncovered evidence of continual habitation dating back to 4395 BCE but that early community grew from an even older one dating back to c. 7000 BCE. 2. The world's highest number of   face & nose jobs per capita is recorded in Iran, making cosmetic surgery surprisingly common. 3. Iran boasts the world's oldest monotheistic religions, Zoroastrianism, which dates back 4,000 years and influenced the developmen...

Hemchandra Vikramaditya

Image
Hemchandra Vikramaditya THE FORGOTTEN LAST HINDU KING SARASIJ MAJUMDER THE STRAY ARROW: He was a capable administrator, a military genius, a shrewd politician and a far-sighted statesman. In the true sense, he was the follower of the great Hindu ruler Prithvi Raj Chauhan who fought bravely in the battlefields and sacrificed his life for the independence of country. Hemu was one of the greatest freedom fighters in the annals of Indian history, who fought   hard against the foreign rulers. In short, Hemu was a man of ideas and ideals as well as a man of prompt actions, with brilliant and courageous deeds. He had won 22 battles for Adil Shah Suri defeating the Afghan rebels and Mughal forces of Humayun and Akbar. He assumed the title of 'Vikramaditya' after taking the control of Delhi. He was defeated by the Akbar's army in the second battle of Panipat on 5 November 1556, by chance!. Akbar's generals were Khan Zaman I and Bairam Khan. He was conducting the...

INDIA’S FIVE TRAITORS

Image
INDIA’S  FIVE   TRAITORS SARASIJ MAJUMDER   There were several notable betrayals and acts of treachery that shaped the course of history of INDIA. Here are some of the biggest traitors and their acts, and undesirable consequences. Surprisingly—our history book touched them mostly like foot notes. 1.0 King Ambhi Kumar (4 th CENTURY BC)  Ambhi Kumar of Gandhar was a very rude, greedy and stubborn king. Ambhi was the son of king Gandhar Raj. He was also thrown out of Takshashila University because of his behaviour towards teachers or his gurus and also his fellow students. King Ambhi Kumar, the ruler of Taxila in the 4th century BCE, welcomed Alexander the Great into India and ceded his territory to him. Ambhi's intentions were to see the rival kingdoms of Porus and Abisares fall. After enjoying Ambhi’s hospitality, Alexander sent a word out to the neighbouring kings to meet him and pay him a tribute. While few did go, one king staye...

CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJI MAHARAJ A WARRIOR KING IGNORED IN HISTORY SARASIJ MAJUMDER The legendary fights between Shivaji, an Aurangzeb is somewhat chronicled in the history books,   but his son-SAMBHAJI didn’t get the place he deserves. I will share you his acts, and deeds which immortalized him . And he carried forward the fight for independent ‘MARATHA EMPIRE’, till his death. THE LEGACY OF A FEARLESS MARATHA MONARCH : Sambhaji Raje Bhosale, known as Chhatrapati Sambhaji, was frequently referred to as Shambhu Raje,  Second Maratha ruler , particularly in Maharashtra, he earned the epithet “Dharamveer” for his unwavering devotion, love, and sacrifices for the  Hindu Dharma . Considered by many as the most formidable Maratha monarch after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sambhaji Raje Bhosale left an indelible mark on history. However—he is not occupied the place of a ‘DOT’ in our history text books of school. Birth and Early Life: He was born on May 14, 1657...

GENESIS OF 'PAKISTAN'

Image
CHAUDHRY RAHMAT ALI GENESIS OF 'PAKISTAN' SARASIJ MAJUMDER     Two Muslims can be credited for the generation of concept of ‘PAKISTAN’. One is generator of TWO NATION theory, and the other is Ch. Rahmat Ali. SYED AHMED KHAN: REF:-“Roots of Muslim separatism in Colonial India (17th century–1940s) ---M. S. Jain and others”--- have traced the origins of the two nation-theory to Syed Ahmed Khan and the Aligarh Movement, consisting of his followers such as Mohsin-ul-Mulk. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan (1817-1898) founded the Aligarh Movement to improve the social and intellectual status of Muslims in British India. The movement's main goal was to introduce Western education to Muslims. He, and his followers later started PROPAGATING, AND PROMOTING THE ‘TWO NATION THEORY’. He spoke this   to British Governor, at Lucknow—from which British identified the existing ‘Fissure’ and conceived the ‘Divide and Rule’ policy, and implemented. Unfortunately, ori...

GENESIS OF TAXATION

Image
GENESIS   OF   TAXATION HOW IT EVOLVED SARASIJ MAJUMDER   NOTE:-- I WILL COVER IN A SEPARATE BLOG   EVOLUTION OF   TAXATION IN INDIA .   While agriculture may have kickstarted the human civilization, we could say that taxes shaped it. If we look back to the very beginning, we find that taxes have a religious origin. Today, religion, ruler, and state are often viewed as separate entities, but in ancient times, they were either all one and the same, or the Head of Religion and Ruler—The Priest and The Monarch-- were in same league.. In many early civilizations, such as the Egyptians, Mesopotamians, Chinese, and Mesoamericans, the ruler was considered a descendent of   God. Therefore, paying tribute to the ruler wasn't just a legal obligation—it was also a religious duty. Ancient civilizations typically had two major forms of taxes: Labour And Tithe. It's important to recognize that these early societies didn't have money in...
