Recent reports indicates that the Israeli spy agency Mossad may have used Iranian security personnel to carry out Haniyeh's assassination. The fear of war in West Asia has intensified following Haniyeh's death. However, this is not the first instance of Mossad's involvement in covert assassinations in this manner.
