THRIVING DEMOCRACY

ODISSA SHINES

SARASIJ MAJUMDER

Both were tribal MLAS 20 years ago during the first term of Shri Naveen Patnaik. Today , on the left is Mr. Mohan Charan Majhi,  an Indian politician, currently serving as the 15th Chief Minister of Odisha  and on the right is the Hon. President of India, showing power of INDIAN DEMOCRACY.

Democracy demands only commonsense, education and culture on the part of electorate to choose the most deserving candidates to the top slots in governance! Freebies and other appeasement politics can murder democracy and constitution as practised by opposition parties due to the lust for power by hook or crook!

People of West Bengal, and Delhi sacrificed this very principle at the altar of personal greed. That present condition of West Bengal is an understatement Delhi is following.

Mr. Naveen Pattanayek—now opposition leader in the newly formed assembly of Odissa, after remaining C.M. of the same state for 25 years—is graceful in defeat, when he welcomed Mr. Majhi at his residence.

His late father, Mr. Biju Pattanayek—is another brave son of INDIA, who also was C.M. twice, in the same state. Mr. Nehru sent him in a deadly  mission and he returned back with victory. It is a shame that The Then P.M. of India, Mr. Nehru forgot to honour him appropriately. He deserves “BHARATRATNA”—which must be awarded posthumously.

There are many competent people from ODISSA who are part of  immediate past, and present NDA government.

I wholeheartedly wish success of  Odissa, known as UTKAL from ancient times, with glorious heritage in all fields.
