NETAJI SUBHAS CHANDRA BOSE
THE SPRINGING TIGER
SARASIJ MAJUMDER
He was born with a silver spoon on his mouth, yet he was excellent in both, sports and studies .
Didn’t become a ‘SPOILT CHILD’.
But he was destiny's child. Whenever he reached close to his goal, destiny intervened. At the end, he died 'incognito'.
By the age of 22, after topping in matriculations , he passed out from one of the
most prestigious colleges of the then Calcutta (Kolkata now) with honors and Distinction, and has
even secured a rank in the most difficult ICS examination held in London, to become one of the
few ‘Indian’ civil servants of India under British Raj. He was all set to live in luxury and
opulence for the rest of his life on this planet.
However, there was a small hiccup. While he was studying in
Presidency College, he has beaten a British Lecturer, Mr. Oaten for insulting
Indians, and got rusticated. Later, Sir Ashutosh Mukhopadhyay condoned this,
and he got his B.A. degree from Calcutta university securing a rank.
Mr. Oaten, later wrote a POEM, comparing Subhas as Icarus of Greek Mythology. The Poem is shared below:
Did I once suffer, Subhas, at your hands?
Your patriot heart is stilled, I would forget!
Let me recall but this, that while as yet
The Raj that you once challenged in your land
Was mighty; Icarus-like your courage planned
To mount the skies, and storm in battle set
The ramparts of High Heaven, to claim the debt
Of freedom owed, on plain and rude demand.
High Heaven yielded, but in dignity
Like Icarus, you sped towards the sea.
While studying in college, he was immensely influenced by the
teachings of Swamiji, and Rishi Aurobindo. Later, when in jail, he also studied their books. He was a devotee of 'Goddess Kali'.
Those teachings set the bearing of his life for good. Their teachings served as a POLE STAR for his navigation in life, and duty to motherland.
He resigned from civil services and joined congress to become a volunteer and agitator against the British Colonialism. Got beaten, thrashed, and also jailed.
By the age of 33, he came out of prison - became the editor
of a newspaper in Calcutta - got elected as the mayor of Calcutta - travelled Europe - met
powerful, knowledgeable, and famous people of EUROPE. He was looking after the ailing wife of JLN in Europe, for some time.
And he decided to be an activist mayor and a revolutionary
editor. Became political disciple of Deshbandhu. Removed Holwell monument, -- a lie planted by
Britishers in1758! This angered the Britishers – he got arrested again and was
sent to a prison in Mandalay, and later shifted to BUXA FORT .
I visited the Fort in 1998, at the top of a Hill in North Bengal.
By the age of 41 – he was out of prison. He’s got enough national popularity then to even get nominated to the prestigious post of the President of the Indian National Congress - All that was required of him was just pretend to agree with Gandhi’s views on Swaraj (JLN did that, and was rewarded!) – but his conscious pushed him to a different orbit.
He decided to show no moral compromise - and defied Gandhi -
still won the re-election against a candidate supported by Gandhi – but failed to break
the Gandhi lobby in the Congress Working Committee, and then had to resign . World was getting ready for World War 2 - British Power was unorganized, and spread out .
What’s
more - the Britishers put him under house arrest .
And his Political Mentor left the world before, somewhat prematurely!
Despite whatever has happened so far - now, he’s safe at
home, amidst his beloved ones – should be relaxed and cheerful. But his mind was working on a different direction. There are armed
sepoys posted outside his home - but they did not bother much. He can write,
read and practice some Yoga. It was 1940, the war was going on - looked like the
Britishers might agree to finally give limited freedom to India - all he had to do, was
to bid his time and he could easily
become someone important and big! May be even the Prime Minister!!
But the destiny took him to another route.
He grew a heavy beard - changed his name to Mohammed
Ziauddin , a Pashtun from Afghanistan, and escaped from his residence ( now a
Museum) off Elgin road in Calcutta - right under the nose of the British Lion! It was January, 1941.
While the British intelligence was looking for his trail, and searching
for him - he met German leadership and secured funding and resources – sailed on
a U-Boat to reach Sumatra - re-organized the Indian National Army (आज़ाद हिन्द फ़ौज़ ) - Established the Provisional Government of Free India - fought with the
British forces in North-Eastern India - and planned his mysterious exit from South East Asia when
Japan surrendered, after a Concocted Plane Crash at 'Taihoku' airport !
After reaching Sumatra onwards-- Japan provided all the support to him, till he disappeared!
British Lion again lost him, when he disappeared from SAIGON and got egg on their face! And
Independent India lost the services of the best leader of the 20th Century, who
was her most dedicated and able son!!
On strength of some evidence, it can be said that he probably returned to India,
lived, and died as “GUMNAMI BABA” alias
“BHAGWANJI” on 16 September 1985,
in Ajodhya.
Despite all the above, his political party disowned him, his
own countrymen never seriously demanded for him Bharat Ratna!.
And today, is his 128th Birth day. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was born on 23 January,1897 in Cuttack. GOI declared this day as 'PARAKRAM DIBAS'. His famous SLOGAN “JAY-HIND” became immortal. The
person who killed him politically deploying dishonest means—Netaji showered on him the title
of ‘Father of Nation’—which became that person’s identity today. What an irony!!
I couldn’t get chance to give my BLOOD Netaji you demanded. Solely because of your sacrifice, I born in 'FREE INDIA'. And I wrote this
BLOG with a bleeding heart! I offer my most respectful salute to you today.
Jai Hind! Jai Netaji!

hold the key to open this closed room of his life. A part of this BLOG was posted as a BLOG in WORD PRESS on January, 2017, before I read 'CONUNDRUM'. I will elaborate this BLOG with more details in future.
