NIKOLA TESLA

THE FATHER OF ALTERNATING CURRENT

THE FORGOTTEN SCIENTIST IN HISTORY

SARASIJ MAJUMDER

Nikola Tesla's final photograph, left, shows him thin and haggard, a far cry from the brilliant and confident man he once was. Sadly, Tesla never received the recognition he deserved for his many contributions to science and technology. He died in poverty and obscurity; forgotten by the world he had helped to shape.

Nikola Tesla inventions constitute numerous technological breakthroughs throughout his lifetime. Born in Smiljan, Croatia, in 1856, the math and physics genius contributed innovations that continue to impact our lives of daily today. He held over three hundred patents, but was only recognized for some.

Tesla was a visionary who dreamed of a self-sustaining world powered by clean, renewable energy. He believed that electricity should be free for all, and he worked tirelessly to develop technologies that would make this possible. However, Tesla's ideas were often ahead of their time, and he was often met with resistance from the establishment. His most famous rival, Thomas Edison, was a staunch advocate for the use of direct current (DC) electricity, while Tesla championed the use of alternating current (AC). Edison's DC system was more accepted for its simplicity, but Tesla's AC system was more versatile and could be used for a wider variety of applications. In the end, Tesla's AC system prevailed, but Edison's smear campaign against him had a lasting impact on Tesla's reputation, while he was alive.

He applied for many patents for his AC power operated invention, and discoveries which were later sold to Westinghouse.

He also FORETOLD about WIRELESS system.

Some of Tesla’s inventions included:

  • AC Power (alternating current)
  • Tesla Coil
  • Magnifying Transmitter
  • Tesla Turbine
  • Shadowgraph—An improvement on X-Ray. Image becomes  CLEARER.
  • Neon Lamp
  • Hydroelectric Power
  • Induction Motor.
There are some more inventions by him, which I will study in detail, and update this BLOG later.

Famous "QUOTE" from Tesla:-

"One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane. Be alone, that is the secret of invention; be alone, that is when ideas are born. My brain is only a receiver, in the Universe there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength and inspiration."

He died a pauper. Nobody remembers him. But his A.C. invention has the last laugh.

  1. Tesla did not get his due due to professional & commercial deceit. However, his name has a weighted recognition in the field of engineering marvels.
