1.      On the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar, special programs were organized yesterday around the country. The government released a commemorative postage stamp and a special coin dedicated to Devi Ahilyabai. The National Devi Ahilyabai Award was also presented to a woman artist for contribution in tribal, folk, and traditional arts.

2.      The total number of active Covid-19 cases in India has breached the 3,000-mark, along with four deaths reported in Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

3.      Finance Minister on Friday said India is sustaining its GDP growth momentum as the fastest-growing economy for the fourth year in a row, aided by manufacturing, services and farm sectors.  She said India's manufacturing activity has been "good" during the January-March period, which has helped clock a GDP growth of 7.4 per cent during the quarter and 6.5 per cent for the full 2024-25 fiscal.

4.      India has achieved a significant milestone in global electronics manufacturing by surpassing China as the largest exporter of iPhones to the United States, according to a report by market research firm OMDIA. In April 2025, nearly three million iPhones manufactured in India were shipped to the US, marking a 76% year-on-year increase. 

5.      The Indian Army is conducting trials of next-generation defence technologies at key locations across the country, including the Pokhran Field Firing Ranges, Babina Field Firing Ranges, and Joshimath.

6.      The Kaveri engine, developed by India's Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) within the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is undergoing trials at the Gromov Flight Research Institute (GFRI) in Russia. 

7.      The Indian government has directed IndiGo, the country’s largest airline, to terminate its aircraft lease agreement with Turkish Airlines within three months, signalling a strong response to Turkey’s recent public support for Pakistan amid heightened geopolitical tensions in South Asia.

MY COMMENT:-- Mr. TRUMP seems to be obsessed with a short INDO-PAK conflict. There are wars and disputes-- USA-IRAN; RUSSIA-UKRAINE; and ISRAEL—HAMAS+HOUTHI backed by other Islamic countries are ravaging the world over years!!!! Mr. Trump—are you selectively blind? TO STOP WAR—STOP SUPPLYING WAR HARDWARES , and MONEYTARY AIDS that will be spent on upgrading MILITARY.  AND STOP EU-JINGOISM FAVOURING UKRAINE!

A.    Russia has vowed to continue its military campaign in Ukraine until the underlying causes of the conflict are resolved and peace agreements are formally ratified. Chairman of the Russian State Duma’s Defence Committee Andrey Kartapolov ruled out any unconditional ceasefire, stating that Moscow would continue its assault unless a formal lasting agreement is signed between the two countries. THISC MESSAGE WAS DELIVERED BY RUSSIA WITHOUT AMBIGUITY FOR A LONG TIME.

B.     Columbia has officially withdrawn its statement that was issued expressing condolences on the loss of lives in Pakistan after the Indian strikes during the Operation Sindoor.

C.    India and Brazil strengthened bilateral ties at the Shangri-La Dialogue 2025, reaffirming commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

D.    Poland to hold pivotal Presidential election influenced by Donald Trump, war in Ukraine. The winner will succeed President Andrzej Duda, a conservative who is finishing his second and final term. (AP)

E.     Iran has amassed even more near weapons-grade uranium, UN watchdog says. Senior Iranian officials dismissed speculation about an imminent nuclear deal with the United States, emphasizing that any agreement must fully lift sanctions and allow the country’s nuclear program to continue. (AP)

F.     US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned that China poses a real and possibly immediate threat, and urged countries in the Indo-Pacific to increase their defence spending.

G.    Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore on Saturday, Hegseth said the Indo-Pacific remains a top priority for the Trump administration. It was his first appearance at the annual forum, which brings together defence leaders and diplomats from across Asia.

H.    Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) freedom fighters claimed to have taken complete control of Surab city in the Balochistan province, paralysing all military, administrative and financial structures of the state controlled by PAKISTAN militarily.

I.       UN seeks 20% cut in staff to help deal with funding shortfall. The cuts affect about 14,000 posts covered by the regular budget, or about 2,800 posts, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters   ON IT’S PRESENTPERFORMANCE, IT CAN BE CLOSED EVEN.

J.      The Trump Administration Will Now Favour "Patriotic Americans" For Jobs. In a sweeping reorientation of the federal workforce, the Trump administration has unveiled a comprehensive hiring plan that reshapes not only how federal employees are selected but also the values and commitments they are expected to bring.

K.    Harvard's US-Funded Defence Projects Totalled $180 Million: Report. The Trump administration announced in April that it was moving to freeze $2.2 billion in grants and $60 million in contracts to Harvard University.

L.     Since 2020 the Pentagon, Défense Advanced Research Projects Agency and every branch of the U.S. military have given Harvard 418 grants valued at $180 million, according to the analysis by Govini.

M.   The administration has frozen approximately $3 billion in federal grants to Harvard, with Trump complaining on Truth Social that Harvard has hired "Democrats, Radical Left idiots and 'bird brains'" as professors.

India's indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities reached a pivotal milestone on May 30, 2025, when VEM Technologies, a Hyderabad-based private company, delivered the first Centre Fuselage Assembly for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) TEJAS MK-1A to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

ED freezes assets worth Rs 1.5 crore in PMLA case against ex-bank officer. The investigation involved Bedanshu Sekhar Mishra, a former officer in the Punjab & Sind Bank, his associates and key management persons of gaming platform, a spokesperson of the ED said.

MISHAPS: -

In Mizoram, several people are feared dead after six houses, including a hotel, collapsed after a landslide triggered by heavy rain hit the Lawngtlai town. 

In Arunachal Pradesh, seven people have lost their lives in a devastating landslide triggered by heavy rainfall on the National Highway-13 between Bana and Seppa in East Kameng district. 

 

Environmental: -

Recent studies indicate that glaciers are melting faster than anticipated. This alarming trend coincides with the first United Nations conference on glaciers held in Tajikistan. The research suggests that limiting global warming to 1.5°C can preserve glacier ice compared to current trajectories. If climate policies remain unchanged, the world could warm by 2.7°C, leading to catastrophic glacier loss.

At the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 in Gumi, South Korea, India finished second in the medal tally with 24 medals. India clinched eight gold, 10 silver and six bronze in the Championships. 

Indian Deaf Cricket Team has triumphed in the historic 5-match International Deaf Cricket Series 2025 against Trinidad & Tobago. The India team clinched the series 3-2, showcasing resilience, tactical brilliance, and team spirit. The team also registered a thumping 132-run win in the 2nd ODI match. India also won all three T20 matches.  

In Shooting, India’s Mona Agarwal has clinched the silver medal in the Women’s P2 – 10 metre Air Pistol SH1 event at the 2025 Para Shooting World Cup in Changwon, South Korea. 

India’s Sachin Yadav claimed silver in the javelin throw event at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 in Gumi, South Korea on Saturday.
