US terminates Temporary Protected Status for
Nepal. Nepal was initially designated for TPS on June 24, 2015, for a period of
18 months, in the wake of the devastating earthquake that resulted in a
substantial, but temporary, disruption of living conditions. A US Department of
Homeland Security (DHS) notice on Saturday said TPS would not be extended for
Nepal after its expiration on June 24 this year.

Worse" Than Covid After US Fungus Smuggling Case. "The only way to
stop this is to sever relations with China. And I know people think that's
drastic, but we are being overwhelmed," America's top expert on Chinese
affairs, Gordon G Chang, told Fox News. Yunqing Jian, 33, and her boyfriend
Zunyong Liu, 34, allegedly conspired to smuggle into the US a fungus called
'Fusarium graminearum' that causes "head blight," a disease of wheat,
barley, maize, and rice. The US Justice Department said the fungus is
classified in scientific literature as a "potential agroterrorism
weapon," and causes billions of dollars in losses each year. It causes
vomiting, liver damage, and reproductive defects in humans and livestock.

DRDO’s Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE)
in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, has transferred technologies of nine defence
systems to 10 Indian industries. The systems include the Chemical, Biological,
Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Recce Vehicle, Mounted Gun System, Anti-Terrorist
Vehicle, and Vajra-Riot Control Vehicle, among others.

Five Maoists were killed in two encounters with security
forces in an ongoing operation in the Indravati National Park area of
Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police officials said on Saturday. Union Home
Minister Amit Shah has hailed the success and expressed his wish to meet the
brave soldiers who are engaged in anti-Maoist mission.
Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan is likely to get

World Oceans Day. World leaders, scientists, and advocates gather in Nice to

Barbara formed off the southwest coast of Mexico
earlier on Sunday.

Heavy rainfall of 5-10 centimetres are possible
across portions of the Mexican states of Guerrero, Michoacan, Colima, and
Jalisco through Monday. This rainfall may lead to flooding and mudslides. Swells
affecting portions of the southwestern Mexico coast for the next few days can
produce life-threatening surf and rip current conditions, the hurricane centre
said.

The global initiative to protect 30 per cent
of the oceans by 2030 requires an annual investment of $15.8 billion. This
figure is outlined in the report titled “The Ocean Protection Gap – Assessing
Progress toward the 30×30 Target.” The report, released by a consortium of NGOs
and funders, marks funding shortfall. Currently, only $1.2 billion is allocated
annually for ocean protection, leaving a gap of $14.6 billion. This report
comes ahead of the United Nations Ocean Conference 3, scheduled for June 2025 in
