1.      PM Modi highlighted that India's Nari Shakti is setting examples across sectors and actively participating in the resolution of a Viksit Bharat. In a social media post, Prime Minister said that the government’s focus on women-led development over the past 11 years.

 

(a)    Cited Ujjwala Yojana as a milestone that brought smoke-free kitchens to several homes. 

(b)    He also highlighted how MUDRA loans have enabled lakhs of women to become entrepreneurs and pursue their dreams independently. 

(c)     The provision of houses in women’s names under the PM Awas Yojana has also made a remarkable impact on their sense of security and empowerment.

 

2.      Northern Railways has begun commercial operations of Vande Bharat trains between Katra and Srinagar. The Vande Bharat express train, connects Kashmir with the rest of the country through rail. Passengers who boarded the trains from Katra to Baramulla, or vice versa, expressed immense enthusiasm, with many stating they had eagerly awaited the opportunity to travel to Kashmir by train.

7.      In a move likely to spark a political uproar, the Assam government has decided to invoke a little-known law from 1950 -- the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Order -- to fast-track the deportation of undocumented immigrants, bypassing the usual judicial process. THERE ARE MANY AILMENTS WHOSE TREATMENT MUST BY-PASS JUDICIARY.

8.      Tamil Nadu, Union Minister for home affairs and senior BJP leader Amit Shah criticised the DMK Government for indulging in anti-people policies. Addressing a party meeting in Madurai, he accused DMK for Tasmac corruption amounting to 39,775 Crores rupees.

B.     In his Id speech delivered on Friday (June 6, 2025), the Chief Adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh, Prof. Mohammed Yunus announced that the next national election will be held in April 2026. However, he announced the country would witness the launch of the “July Proclamation”, a document that he said was “agreed upon by all parties”.

C.    US terminates Temporary Protected Status for Nepal. Nepal was initially designated for TPS on June 24, 2015, for a period of 18 months, in the wake of the devastating earthquake that resulted in a substantial, but temporary, disruption of living conditions. A US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) notice on Saturday said TPS would not be extended for Nepal after its expiration on June 24 this year.

D.    Canada's New Citizenship Bill: What It Means For Indians, Those Born Abroad

E.     The Canadian government has introduced a new bill, titled C-3, that removes the existing limit on citizenship by descent. The legislation was presented in the Parliament on Thursday by Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab.  This bill is expected to benefit the Indian diaspora and other immigrant communities amid the Trump administration's tightening of immigration policies in the United States.

F.     The Balochistan Assembly of PAKISTAN, on June 4, passed the Counter-Terrorism (Balochistan Amendment) Act 2025, a new law that gives sweeping powers to security forces operating in the province. The legislation has been met with strong criticism from rights groups, legal experts, and civil society, who warn it could further fuel repression and unrest in the region. G.    China Expert Warns Of "Something Worse" Than Covid After US Fungus Smuggling Case. "The only way to stop this is to sever relations with China. And I know people think that's drastic, but we are being overwhelmed," America's top expert on Chinese affairs, Gordon G Chang, told Fox News. Yunqing Jian, 33, and her boyfriend Zunyong Liu, 34, allegedly conspired to smuggle into the US a fungus called 'Fusarium graminearum' that causes "head blight," a disease of wheat, barley, maize, and rice. The US Justice Department said the fungus is classified in scientific literature as a "potential agroterrorism weapon," and causes billions of dollars in losses each year. It causes vomiting, liver damage, and reproductive defects in humans and livestock.

H.    Iran's parliament speaker said on Sunday that the latest US proposal for a nuclear deal does not include the lifting of sanctions, state media reported as negotiations appeared to have hit a roadblock.

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY:

DRDO’s Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE) in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, has transferred technologies of nine defence systems to 10 Indian industries. The systems include the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Recce Vehicle, Mounted Gun System, Anti-Terrorist Vehicle, and Vajra-Riot Control Vehicle, among others.

CRIME & PUNISHMENT:

Five Maoists were killed in two encounters with security forces in an ongoing operation in the Indravati National Park area of Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police officials said on Saturday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has hailed the success and expressed his wish to meet the brave soldiers who are engaged in anti-Maoist mission. 

Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan is likely to get bail on June 11 in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

a.      U.N. Ocean Conference sets sail off France on World Oceans Day. World leaders, scientists, and advocates gather in Nice to confront ocean threats and push for marine protection agenda and activities.

b.      Barbara formed off the southwest coast of Mexico earlier on Sunday.

c.       Heavy rainfall of 5-10 centimetres are possible across portions of the Mexican states of Guerrero, Michoacan, Colima, and Jalisco through Monday. This rainfall may lead to flooding and mudslides. Swells affecting portions of the southwestern Mexico coast for the next few days can produce life-threatening surf and rip current conditions, the hurricane centre said.

d.      Earth Sciences Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today reiterated India’s commitment to a resilient Blue Economy. Addressing the Monaco Marine Conference in Monaco, Dr. Singh highlighted India’s strides in adopting Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) as a key tool for sustainable ocean governance.  

e.       The global initiative to protect 30 per cent of the oceans by 2030 requires an annual investment of $15.8 billion. This figure is outlined in the report titled “The Ocean Protection Gap – Assessing Progress toward the 30×30 Target.” The report, released by a consortium of NGOs and funders, marks funding shortfall. Currently, only $1.2 billion is allocated annually for ocean protection, leaving a gap of $14.6 billion. This report comes ahead of the United Nations Ocean Conference 3, scheduled for June 2025 in France. WHAT A SAD SITUATION? IMF IS PROTECTING TERRORISM BY SPENDING $40 BILLION!
