INDIA: (GOI, SWARAJYA, VISHWAMITRA, HINDU POST, INDIA TODAY).

1.      The Election Commission of India (EC) will launch the second round of its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise today, covering nine states and three Union territories with a combined electorate of around 51 crore.

2.      PM Modi inaugurated the Emerging Science & Technology Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, unveiling a ₹1 lakh-crore Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund to catalyse private R&D. He also announced the Anusandhan Research Foundation to strengthen research across universities and industry.

3.      Union Minister for Railways and Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw,  chaired a high-level review meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar to assess the progress of the state's major semiconductor and display fabrication projects.

4.      The Election Commission has seized Illicit Inducements worth over 100 crore rupees so far in the ongoing Bihar assembly elections and bye elections of states and union territories.

5.      Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor has strongly criticised the prevalence of family rule in Indian politics. In an article published in a Malayalam newspaper, Mr. Tharoor said, it is time to rely on ability rather than family background in political leadership.

A.    APEC countries pledged to boost trade in their Saturday summit declaration, which coincided with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s first official visit to South Korea in over a decade. Both events signalled how Asian countries are trying to maintain open trade relationships amid a wave of U.S. tariffs.

B.     The United States is an APEC member as well, but U.S. President Donald Trump left the summit early. Meanwhile, the signing of a new Canada-Philippines military pact over the weekend demonstrated that countries in the region are not uniformly swinging toward China.

C.    South Korea  & China signed a series of agreements, including a currency swap deal and memorandums of understanding on fighting digital crime and addressing demographic aging.

D.    Trump’s order last week to resume U.S. nuclear testing was not referring to nuclear explosions but rather to “other parts of a nuclear weapon,” Energy Secretary Chris Wright told Fox yesterday. Trump called for testing “on an equal basis” with China and Russia, the latter of which recently said it tested a nuclear-capable missile and submarine.

E.     CRUDE: Eight OPEC+ countries announced that they will halt production increases in the first quarter of 2026, as some forecasters warn of an oversupply of oil on global markets. The countries said they will raise production the same amount for December as they did in recent months. It is still not clear how recent U.S. sanctions on Russian oil will affect its global sales.

F.     The two countries agreed to establish military-to-military communication channels in order to “deconflict and de-escalate” any problems, U.S. Défense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Saturday.

G.    IT MAY BE RECALLED THAT CHINA PULLED BACK FROM MILITARY TALKS IN 2022 OVER U.S. HOUSE SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI’S VISIT TO TAIWAN.

H.    Senior officials from Lebanon & Syria held talks yesterday in Bahrain, where Syria’s foreign ministry said they sought to improve both political and security ties. The countries have a history of strained relations, as Syria occupied Lebanon from 1976 to 2005 and Hezbollah fighters participated in Syria’s civil war. With relatively new governments in place in both countries, their leaders have pledged to improve bilateral relations.

K.    The Maldives has become the first country globally to impose a Generational Ban on tobacco and vaping, marking a historic step towards a smoke-free future. The law, effective from November 1, 2025, prohibits anyone born after January 1, 2007—including tourists—from purchasing or using tobacco products.

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY:

India has taken a significant leap in modernising its marine data infrastructure with the launch of the Marine Fisheries Census (MFC) 2025 — now a fully digital exercise. Unveiled on November 1, 2025, by Union Minister George Kurian in Kochi, the census integrates real-time data collection, geo-referencing, and drone technology, transforming how India documents and plans for the livelihoods of coastal communities.

 

 

CRIME & PUNISHMENT:

Carlos Manzo, a mayor who had vocally criticized drug cartels in Mexico’s avocado capital of Uruapan, was shot and killed during a public festival over the weekend.

Federal authorities have charged two suspects in connection with what the FBI director described as a possible terror plot.

Mohmed Ali and Majed Mahmoud face charges of “Receiving and transferring, and attempting and conspiring to transfer, firearms and ammunition knowing and having reasonable cause to believe that the firearms and ammunition would be used to commit a Federal crime of terrorism,” according to a criminal complaint.

If convicted, they could face up to 15 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine, said a spokesperson for the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Thirty-five fishermen from Tamil Nadu and Karaikal were arrested by the Navy of Sri Lanka. They were caught for trespassing into international waters while fishing.

 

 

MISHAPS: -

In Rajasthan, the death toll has reached fourteen in the tragic accident that occurred yesterday afternoon when a speeding dumper truck rammed into several vehicles on Sikar Road in Jaipur. Five people are reported to be critically injured and are undergoing treatment at SMS Hospital.

In Telangana, nineteen people were killed in a road accident when a truck rammed into an RTC bus at the Mirjaguda-Khanapur road near Chevella in Rangareddy district yesterday morning.

Twenty-eight people in Jamaica died in the wake of Hurricane MELISSA, authorities said Saturday. “The scale of destruction is unlike anything we have seen in decades,”-- Prime Minister Andrew Holness wrote on social media today.

India has extended condolences over the loss of lives caused by a devastating earthquake in Afghanistan, where the death toll has risen to 20. More than 500 people were injured after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck the northern part of the country, shaking multiple regions on Sunday night.

Three persons, including two Nepali guides, were killed while eight others went missing in an avalanche that occurred at the Yalungri base camp in Rolwaling area of Gaurishankar rural municipality-9 in Nepal.

The State Bank of India (SBI) announced its first gold trade as a Special Category Client (SCC) on the India International Bullion Exchange (IIBX). The move, announced on 1 November 2025, is expected to reshape how gold is imported and traded in India, especially benefiting MSME jewellers through better pricing and streamlined access.

In a major step toward globalising India’s digital payments ecosystem, “”NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL)”” has partnered with “”Razorpay Curlec”” to enable “”UPI transactions in Malaysia””. The integration allows Indian travellers to make instant, secure payments to Malaysian merchants using their preferred UPI-enabled apps.
