India-U.S. fuel deal: India will buy nearly 10
percent of its liquefied petroleum gas in 2026 from the United States as part
of a new deal, its oil and gas minister said. It is the first fuel deal of its
kind for the Indian market and comes as India is looking for a way to reduce
U.S. tariffs. Though it would be cheaper for India to buy the oil from Gulf
countries, New Delhi said it was diversifying its sources.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal says, India-US
partnership is strong, stable and expanding across strategic and economic
sectors.
PAST DATA:-In the last full year (2024), India imported approximately
27.8 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) spending about $15 billion,
with the top suppliers being Qatar, the United States, and the United Arab
Emirates.

Poland’s rail explosion: Polish authorities
suspect that Ukrainian men working for Russian intelligence services were

Germany will resume arms exports to Israel
beginning November 24 in light of the ceasefire in Gaza. It had suspended the
transfer of military equipment that could be used in Gaza in August due to
concerns over Israel’s war conduct.
Denmark announced at COP30 yesterday that it
will cut its emissions 82 percent from 1990 levels by 2035, overtaking the
United Kingdom to boast the most aggressive emissions reduction target in the
world. Separately, South Korea announced that it will stop building coal plants
that lack carbon capture technology and phase out forty existing ones by 2040.
North Korea said that the United States’
approval of South Korea’s push to build nuclear-powered submarines will lead to
a nuclear domino phenomenon in the region.

Sri Lanka surpassed two million tourist
arrivals for 2025, a key milestone marked by the arrival of two French
travellers at Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday. With India
remaining the leading source market, supported by steady inflows from the UK,
Russia, Germany and China, tourism authorities are hopeful of ending above 2.3
million arrivals this year.

Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has opposed the death penalty imposed on
ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in absentia by the country's
court.
The
Amnesty International has condemned yesterday's decision of Bangladesh’s
International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) to sentence former Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina, saying the ruling represents a grave miscarriage of justice. Amnesty
International Secretary General Agnès Callamard said that the verdict fails to
deliver accountability for the victims of last year’s violence and instead
risks deepening Bangladesh’s human rights crisis.
