Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra

The
Ministry of Tribal Affairs signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation in New

supported infrastructure Development and Capacity Building of Eklavya Model
Residential Schools (EMRS).
The
Passing Out Parade of 2700 trainees of INS Chilika will be held on the 8th of
this month. INS Chilika is the Indian Navy’s training establishment for sailors
and Agniveers, located in Odisha near Chilika Lake.
Indian
Army engineers are working to restore road connectivity between the central and
Uwa provinces in Sri Lanka. The Ministry
of Defense said that the Engineer Task Force of the Indian Army has constructed
a 100-foot Bailey Bridge on B-492 highway, restoring road connectivity between
Central Province and Uwa Province.
India’s
Republic Day celebrations on 26 January 2026 are expected to carry strong
diplomatic significance, with European Union (EU) leaders likely to attend as
chief guests. According to media reports, the EU has officially accepted
India’s invitation, underlining the growing importance of the India–EU

The U.S. bombings and raid in Caracas reportedly

Venezuela’s Supreme Court named Delcy Rodríguez—formerly Maduro’s vice
president—acting president on Saturday. That day, she shared a statement

North
Korea test-fired multiple ballistic missiles yesterday, Japan’s defense

Antigovernment protests and labor strikes have
spread to twenty-six provinces in Iran, U.S.-based group Human Rights Activists
News Agency said yesterday. At least nineteen protesters have reportedly been

South Korea seeks to open a “new phase” of

Korean and Chinese media reported that the countries signed fifteen agreements

Botswana plans to open an embassy in Moscow soon
and invited Russian companies to collaborate on investments in rare earth
minerals, Botswana’s foreign minister told Russian state news agency TASS.
Diamond-rich Botswana is also currently in talks with the United States that

A far-left group claimed responsibility for an
electricity outage that left some forty-five thousand homes and more than two

SCIENCE &
TECHNOLOGY:
Study
suggests ancient Indian scholars knew mineral acids centuries before Europeans
could find it.
Examining
classical Indian texts written before the 8th century CE, the scientists have
also questioned the belief that Arab alchemists first developed mineral acids
after the 9th century.
A
study published in the Indian Journal of History of Science a few months ago
has challenged long-held beliefs about the origins of mineral acids, suggesting
that ancient Indian scholars may have understood and used them centuries before
similar knowledge appeared in Europe or the Arab world.
CRIME & PUNISHMENT:
The
Supreme Court has refused to grant bail to activists Umar Khalid and Sharjeel
Imam in the 2020 Delhi riots conspiracy matter, saying there was a prima facie
case against the accused under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
IMD:-
The
India Meteorological Department, IMD, has issued an orange alert for very dense
fog conditions in Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh over next two to
three days.
ENVIRONMENTAL: -
Heavy
rains and snowfall in Afghanistan have ended a prolonged dry spell but
triggered flash floods in several areas, killing at least 17 people and
injuring 11 others, according to authorities. Afghans are facing acute shortage
of FOOD’.

Under-19 Cricket, India defeated hosts South Africa by 8 wickets through the

Government signs an MoU with the Reserve Bank of India. Delhi Chief Minister’s office said that the
MoU enables the RBI to function as the banker, debt manager, and financial
agent of the Government of Delhi.
The
first meeting of the Payments Regulatory Board (PRB) was held in Mumbai under the chairmanship of Reserve Bank of
India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra. The Board was constituted following
amendments to the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, which came into
effect on 9th May last year.
