BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS:-

1.     FM Sitharaman proposes 'East Coast Industrial Corridor', 5 tourism destinations in 'Purvodaya' States in Union Budget.  In poll bound state  West Bengal—Durgapur, Siliguri, and Dankuni are in focus.

2.     Union Budget 2026-27 proposes ₹12.2 lakh crore public capex with high-speed rail corridors, freight corridors, waterways, CCUS, and city economic regions to drive growth, sustainability and private investment confidence.

3.     Railway Budget 2026 allocates a record ₹2.93 lakh crore capex to Indian Railways, with plans for 7 high-speed rail corridors, network expansion, and modernization to boost connectivity and economic growth.

4.     Budget 2026 raises India’s defense spending by 15.3% to ₹7.84 lakh crore. Capital outlay, Make in India push, defense exports, and post-Pakistan conflict lessons shape India’s renewed focus on military self-reliance and readiness.

5.     This, ₹3.65 lakh crore is for defense services revenue, ₹2.19 lakh crore for capital outlay, and ₹1.71 lakh crore for pensions.

6.     Capital expenditure alone rose by 21.8%, signaling a clear focus on modernization, new platforms and equipment acquisition.    

7.     Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the Income Tax Act, 2025 will come into effect from 1 April 2026.

8.     Union Budget 2026-27 has proposed an excise-duty exemption on the biogas or compressed biogas (CBG) component in blended compressed natural gas, signaling a stronger policy push to scale up renewable gas use and reduce India’s dependence on imported fossil fuels.
