Registrations are currently open for the India AI Impact Expo 2026, a platform under India AI Impact Summit 2026 for scaling Artificial Intelligence prototypes into deployable real-world solutions. Startups, enterprises, research institutions, and AI organizations can register for the expo via the official website.

The Government has notified the Baggage Rules, 2026 and issued the New Customs Baggage (Declaration and Processing) Regulations, 2026 and a Master Circular for people travelling to and from India, which will make airport procedures easier and faster. The Ministry of Finance said the new rules aim to reduce paperwork, increase transparency, and speed up clearance at airports.

In Kerala, a central team has arrived in Alappuzha district to assess the avian influenza situation. Avian flu cases have been reported in 16 locations across the district in three phases. As a preventive measure, around 41,000 birds were culled in two stages to contain the spread of the disease.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a ₹50 crore grant to preserve the heritage of the Darrang kings of the Koch dynasty. The project aims to restore royal sites, honour Mahabir Chilarai, and develop the region into a major cultural tourism hub.

Meitei Khemchand set to be Manipur CM.  The government formation will need to take place before February 13, the day of expiry of President’s rule. 

A two-time MLA (2017 and 2022) from Singjamei constituency, Khemchand is a popular Meitei leader, a former Speaker of the Manipur Assembly and a minister in the last N Biren Singh-led government.

INDO—USA TRADE DEAL:

NEW DELHI, Feb 3 (Reuters) – “U.S. President Donald Trump's move to slash tariffs on Indian imports sparked a relief rally across the Asian country's markets on Tuesday, lifting sentiment among exporters and policymakers even as details of the agreement remained scant.

Trump announced a trade deal with India on Monday to cut tariffs to 18% from 50% in exchange for New Delhi halting Russian oil purchases and lowering trade barriers.”

Many news spreading on this are  un- supported.

Among Asian peers, U.S. tariffs on goods from Indonesia and Pakistan  stand at 19% while the rate for Vietnam and Bangladesh stands at 20%.

CHINA:- The agreed tariff is 30-35%, effective rate.

India's Trade Minister Piyush Goyal said late on Tuesday, that a joint statement would be issued soon.

Share Market responded positively, Rupee shows sign of getting strengthened.

The World Government Summit 2026 opened in Dubai under the theme “Shaping Future Governments,” bringing together global leaders, policymakers, and business executives to deliberate on how innovation, sustainability, and technology are reshaping public policy worldwide.  The summit is being held in Dubai and runs until February 5.

LAW, CRIME & PUNISHMENT:

The Supreme Court  said that tech. giants cannot play with citizen’s Right to Privacy in the name of data sharing. The court came down heavily on Meta and WhatsApp while hearing their appeals against a Competition Commission of India order imposing a penalty of around 213 crore rupees over their privacy policy.

The government has issued show cause notices to edible oil companies for non-compliance with the Vegetable Oil Products, Production and Availability (Regulation) Amendment Order, 2025 (VOPPA Order).

MISHAPS: -

In Uttarakhand, four people lost their lives when a bus of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) fell into a gorge today on the Kwanu-Meenas motor road in the Kalsi area of Dehradun district. Around 12 others were injured in the accident.

ENVIRONMENTAL: -

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6 struck Myanmar on Tuesday evening. Tremors were felt in Kolkata and surrounding areas.

The Dense fog conditions in the northern parts of the country impacted train operations.

Indian mountaineer Kabak Yano has successfully summited Mount Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest peak in South America, as part of her ambitious 7-Summit Mountaineering Expedition. Kabak Yano hails from Arunachal Pradesh. Mount Aconcagua is towered at 22,831 feet above sea level and it is the highest peak in the Southern Hemisphere.
