The 2025 Kanwar Yatra begins on today @ 11 July, Friday.  The Jal Abhishekam is done on Sawan Shivaratri.   Kanwar Yatra or Kawad Yatra is an auspicious pilgrimage observed by the devotees of Lord Shiva annually. This yatra is also called Jal Yatra as in this practice the bearer known as ‘Kanwariyas’ or Kanvadias go the Hindu pilgrimage places like Sultanganj in Bihar, Gangotri and Gaumukh in Uttarakhand and Haridwar to fetch water from the Holy Ganges and then offer the ‘Ganga Jal’ to Shiva temples in their hometowns. Background:- I have read in papers, and heard many TV shows/ YOU -TUBES on hike of LPG price, and decided to investigate.

  • The Union Cabinet on Tuesday-29-08-2023 approved reduction in prices of LPG cooking gas cylinders by Rs 200 for all connection holders.
  • Effective from today, the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder will be reduced by Rs 200 across the country. In Delhi, for instance, the decision will bring down the cost from the existing Rs 1,103 to Rs 903. Domestic LPG cylinder prices were last revised on March 1, when they were hiked by Rs 50 per cylinder.
  • The government in October 2022 provided a one-time grant of Rs 22,000 crore to  oil companies to cover for the losses they had incurred on selling LPG at below cost in the previous two years.

NOTE:

1 Non-subsidized LPG is  cheaper under NDA  than under UPA!!
