SUMMER has knocked the door. Some of you may like to purchase new/Replace old FANS. With so many options in the market, a technical selection criterion may be necessary, and presented.

CEILING FANS are one of the most-used electrical appliances in a home. This is why you shouldn’t be surprised by the increased energy consumption you see on your electricity bill on every summer month. Fortunately, considering the advancements in technology, finding a ceiling fan that is both energy efficient and aesthetically appealing has become much easier.

One must determine the ceiling fan’s wattage in order to comprehend how much electricity it consumes. In addition, you should consider the national price of electricity in India as the second factor to determine how much it costs to run a ceiling fan each hour, day, week, or month.

BLDC FANS & MOTORS

BLDC fans are the next generation of fans aimed at a more sustainable utilisation of energy without compromising on air comfort. BLDC motors convert electrical energy to mechanical energy. Intelligent speed control, high torque, and low maintenance are the main characteristics of DC motors. Direct-current electricity powers a brushless direct-current motor. Instead of the electromagnets used in induction motors, permanent magnets are used in BLDC motors. The fan’s three-phase winding is made of  using  thick copper wire, which promotes a longer life span.

SWEEP SIZE

To ensure proper air circulation, consider the room size when installing a ceiling fan. Use a measuring stick/ Tape to calculate room dimensions and choose the appropriate blade span, which is the diameter of the spinning blades.

 3, 4,  OR 5-BLADE FANS?

While 5-blade fans can be more aesthetic and appealing to look at and add to the decor of the room, they may not necessarily increase the efficiency of the fan. A fan’s performance depends on the  air delivery which is stated for every fan by the manufacturer. This is the parameter that should be considered for superior performance comparison. A FEW Model Study established that 3- Blade fans are as good in air delivery, as others.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

The BLDC range of energy-efficient fans offers various designs and features to help users beat heat while keeping utility bills low. With the increasing awareness of quality electrical appliances, these appliances are becoming increasingly popular.

Note:-- Power Consumption may vary based on Size, Model and Manufacturer. The table is for comparison purpose, and idea only.

NOISE LEVEL

Ceiling fans, once loved for their aesthetic appeal but causing excessive noise, are now being replaced by aerodynamically designed fans that produce minimal noise during operation. This smart design ensures a comfortable and quieter living environment.

AIR DELIVERY

The amount of airflow or air delivery a ceiling fan can produce per minute is most commonly measured in cubic feet per minute, or CFM. CFM is the most common form of measurement when speaking about ventilation, heating, and cooling. The CFM increases with speed o Motors. This is regulated manually by regulator.

ANTI- DUST

Dust accumulation is a major issue in metro cities, or areas with Dusty Environment. Maintaining  clean homes is crucial. Anti-dust fans can reduce dust collection by 50% compared to ordinary ceiling fans.  The Anti-dust coating ensures 50% lower dust accumulation, thus reducing the frequent cleaning and maintenance of the fan.

BUILT AND FINISH

Best manufacturers  offer a diverse range of ceiling fans, including laminated veneers, solid wood, metallic, electroplated, rustic, and PU finishes, with even built-in light features, allowing for customization to complement interiors. Select your option.

SILENT FANS

1. They operate twice as silently as other ceiling fans in the market making them some of the best soundless fans.

2. Some fans operate the fan with a point-anywhere remote.

3. IoT enabled variants of some Silent fans can be operated with Alexa and Google using voice commands and  mobile application. But, manufacturers for this option are limited.

4. The timer, some model has,  allows you to schedule a specific time for turning on/off the fan.

5. Most of the Silent Fan models  are Powered by  BLDC technology.

6. Few variants have an anti-dust coating which ensures 50% lesser dust accumulation.

7. Multi-pairing functionality allows you to control multiple Silent fans with a single remote. But, they should be same Model, and from same manufacturer.

Initial Investment:

But the initial investment, for Silent, BLDC model, IoT enabled fans are pretty high- almost double of the general good quality, 5 star rated fans .  The payback period for differential higher investment will not be less than 3/4 years.
