INDIA  AND ROHINGYAS

IS GOI FULLY AWAKE??

Election in Barasat/ Sandesh Khali may be affected.

SARASIJ MAJUMDER

The number shown against India is old initial number .

History, and Genesis of the Problem:-

The Rohingya, are a Muslim ethnic minority group residing in predominantly Buddhist Myanmar. Primarily they are settled in province of Rakhine,  Myanmar, and have fled due to  ethnic conflict predominantly with Buddhist Myanmar, and are seeking refuge in India, Bangladesh, and neighbouring countries.

The information is—they are very corrosive, violent group, killed Indians, Buddhists, and local people of Myanmar. This resulted a local UPSURGE against them, leading to mass scale expulsion.

Their WOMEN are generally in the business of unorganised Prostitution, and all men are linked to DRUGS TRAFICKING. Children grew up in that environment.

In India—they have illegally settled in West Bengal, in maximum number under the patronage of TMC; along the INDIA- NEPAL border of BIHAR, U.P. , Uttarakhand; and Jammu.

Total Rohingya population MAY not BE evaluated/ published by INDIA—if we integrate the various information of Newspapers, and Media—IT COUD BE SEVERAL LAKHS. Many of them have obtained Adhar Card/ Voter Card, in West Bengal, as reported.

This changed the demography of India—may be locally, and temporarily. It is a great concern. It calls for immediate action by GOI.

It is reported that Sheikh Shajahan settled large number of Rohingyas in Sandesh Khali, and Basirhat of West Bengal. This may have effect on Election scheduled there. GOI & EC shall neutralize this.

Rakhine State, where most Rohingya reside, is a constant flashpoint in tensions between the Rohingya and other ethnic groups. The state's capital Sittwe is located nearly 650 kilometres from Myanmar's capital Naypyidaw.

Escalation Of Violence

The crisis escalated dramatically in August 2017 when the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), a Rohingya insurgent group, launched attacks on Myanmar police and army posts in Rakhine State. In response, Myanmar's military launched a brutal crackdown, characterised by widespread violence, mass killings, and the torching of Rohingya villages. Hundreds of thousands fled across the border into neighbouring Bangladesh to escape for life.

INTERNATIONAL REACTION:-

The international community has condemned Myanmar's actions, with many labelling it as ethnic cleansing and even genocide. The United Nations, human rights organisations, and individual countries have called for accountability and justice for the Rohingya. Legal actions have been pursued at international courts, including cases at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC). Sanctions have been imposed on Myanmar's military leaders by various nations and organisations.

UNO DID NOTHING BEYOND THIS.

BANGLADESH AND ROHINGYAS

The majority of Rohingya refugees have sought shelter in overcrowded camps in Cox's Bazaar in Bangladesh. The living conditions in these camps are dire, often made worse by the annual monsoon season, which brings flooding and landslides. Disease outbreaks and lack of access to basic necessities pose significant challenges to the well-being of Rohingya refugees. Sheikh Hasina did some firefighting. But, the Refugees didn’t co-operate.

The Kutupalong camp In Cox's Bazaar is widely regarded as the world's largest refugee camp, even bigger than the Um Rakuba camp in Sudan and the Za'atari camp in Jordan.

INDIA AND ROHINGYAS

First, let us, and all the word be clear that INDIA  is not a party to the (International) Refugee Convention--1951.

India, being a developing nation with the highest population globally, should provide for  Indian  citizens only, the GOI told the Supreme Court  while underscoring concerns regarding national security due to the illegal entry and stay of Rohingya refugees. This declaration came in response to a court petition urging the release of Rohingya refugees detained for alleged violations of the Foreigners Act. This, may be discussed separately.

According to a 2019 report by the US think tank Council On Foreign Relations, approximately 18,000 Rohingya refugees have officially registered with the UN refugee agency, but Indian authorities estimate that the total Rohingya population in INDIA stands at around 40,000. The Indian government has been actively pursuing their repatriation. Since late 2018, India has reportedly deported numerous refugees back to Myanmar.

According to various information—it appears that GOI is downplaying this crisis. India shall handle this more strongly, and in a determined manner.

Every single Rohingya in India- shall be identified, and sent back. India is only for Indians.
