RUMOUR OF MUSLIM COUP-1947

THE TROUBLESOME DAYS

MESSAGE VIRAL

A message was viral in Whats App  recently.  I read it in the afternoon on 03/10/24. I listed below the Key Information of the message:-

“During early 1^st  week of   September 1947, Sardar Patel was informed by the RSS that the Muslims of Delhi were planning to blow up the Parliament House on 10th September,  kill all the ministers and hoist the Pakistani flag on the Red Fort.

Source was trustworthy,  as stated, in the opinion of Mr. Patel,  and  Mr. Patel immediately swung into action .

Some discussion happened between Claude Auchinleck, Mountbatten, and Sardar,    reinforcement organized, and the force raided  the HOTSPOTS listed below.

Pahar Ganj Mosque, Sabzi Mandi Mosque and Mehrauli Mosque were raided and large cache of arms, and ammunitions were recovered. Mosques were the Armory.

The recovery included—Large number of Sten Guns, Bren Guns, and Mortars.

The action conceived by MUSLIMS of Delhi was nipped in the bud.”

MY INVESTIGATION:

I did some research, yesterday, evening,  found out some information, and put the sources in the references below. There are two articles, each published by “ORGANIZER” and “SWARAJYA MAGAZINE”; a book on Mr. Gandhi by Mr. J.B.Kripalani, (page 292-293);  and a book by “Krishnanand Sagar— विभाजनकालीन भारत के साक्षी,( page92-93) ” .

THE FOLLOWINGS EMERGE:

1.0 All the four (4) references listed, confirmed recovery of ‘Sten Gun’,  ‘Bren Gun’, and ‘Morters’—among other weapons. Rumour on fear of Muslim coup was mentioned in all the references.

2.0 The above  weapons are not either used for ‘Riots’, or  for self-defense against a Riot.

3.0 These weapons listed above,  are  normally used  to launch an attack against armed forces—i.e. ‘MILITERY’.

4.0  The referred book listed at Sl. 5  also hinted a fear of  ‘Muslim coup’ as well as fear of a Coup by ‘British Army’  troubling the newly formed baby GOI in September1947. 

5.0 The new Government may  hide below carpet related information, rightly, because they feared a Riot!

 What was the plan of our ‘MUSLIM BROTHERS’???

I think now it may be very difficult to find any solid evidence, to conclude on  the ‘COUP’ conspiracy theory.

CONSEQUENCE:-

1.0 Large number of  DISPLACED Hindus, and Sikhs were in DELHI then, just returned from Pakistan—and they saw what happened.

2.0 In Sabzi Mandi—Muslims fought for a day—as reported. In Mehrauli, the fight was for few hours.

3.0 And subsequently, Muslims got unarmed! And also became sitting DUCKS!

4.0 Delhi RIOT took place and continued immediately after this. It Continued for many days. Many Muslims took shelter in ‘Purana Qilla’.

5.0 Large number of Muslims migrated from DELHI to PAKISTAN, as fast as possible they could.

6.0 After this RIOT, Muslim Population in Delhi came down from 30++ %  to 6-7 %, due to very  large scale of  immediate Migration to Pakistan.

I READ ALL THE REFERENCES, LISTED BELOW BEFORE WRITING THIS BLOG. There are many references of Delhi Riot available in Public Domains. I have not listed.
