Instead, put up pictures of your children in the office and whenever a decision needs to be made, look at that picture. And if the temptation to steal arises in any way, look deeply at that picture of your family and ask yourself if this family would like to be known as the family of a thief who has deceived the country.”                                                                                                                                  A very motivating statement.


INDIA: (GOI, SWARAJYA, VISHWAMITRA, HINDU POST, INDIA TODAY).

1.     The President Smt. Droupadi Murmu appointed new Governors in Haryana and Goa and a new Lieutenant Governor in Ladakh. Former Civil Aviation Minister Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju has been appointed as Governor of Goa while Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh will be the Governor of Haryana. Kavinder Gupta has been appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.  

2.     India’s recent drone strikes on insurgent camps in Myanmar represent a significant escalation in New Delhi’s regional security posture and a direct challenge to China’s covert influence strategy in Southeast Asia.

3.     External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar meets Chinese counterpart in Beijing; Hails positive trajectory in bilateral relations. 

4.     These precision operations, reportedly involving over 100 drones, targeted key bases of the United Liberation Front of Ahom-Independent (ULFA-I) and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) in Myanmar’s Naga Self-Administered Zone, close to the India-Myanmar border. 

5.     The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via the Nathu La route is receiving widespread praise for its arrangements and execution, being recognized as a spiritually enriching experience by both pilgrims and officials. Rajendra Chettri, Chief Executive Officer of the Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC), termed the ongoing Yatra a resounding success.

6.     CPI inflation eases to six-year low of 2.10% in June on favourable base effect, decline in food prices.

A.0 TRUMP & TARIFF:-

A ninety-day negotiating window set after Trump’s sweeping April 2 tariff announcements expired last Wednesday. His letters to Canada, Mexico, and the EU followed a flurry of others throughout last week that both escalated trade threats and gave additional time for talks. The new announcements confused nations that had already spent weeks negotiating. EU is preparing to strengthen ties with countries affected by U.S. tariffs, unnamed sources told Bloomberg; von der Leyen said over the weekend that trading partners were “always welcome” and could “count on Europe.”  EU trade ministers are convening in Brussels today to discuss strategy.

U.S. State Department  has started terminating more than 1,300 employees as part of a massive restructuring under Secretary of State Marco Rubio. 

B.0 RUSSIA—UKRAINE FILE:

The United States will send Patriot Défense missiles to Ukraine, Trump told reporters on Sunday, saying that European nations would pay for them. U.S. special envoy Keith Kellogg is in Kyiv today. Meanwhile in Washington, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte is meeting with Trump today to discuss weapons sales, while bipartisan senators promote a “sledgehammer” Russian sanctions bill. 

C.0 MIDDLE-EAST:

At least thirty people were killed and one hundred injured as violence erupted on Sunday between Sunni Bedouin and Druze groups in southern Syria, according to the country’s interior ministry; a United Kingdom-based war monitor put the number dead at more than fifty. 

D.0 AFRICA

SUDAN: The country’s civil war “has reached an intolerable state,” the deputy prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) advised the UN Security Council last week. The United Nations has estimated that 40,000 people have so far been killed and almost 13 million displaced in the conflict.

At least 18 civilians were killed and 31 others injured in attacks by the Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on areas in the North Kordofan State in ​Western Sudan.

In the first eleven months of the current fiscal year 2024/25, Nepal’s total deficit has reached Rs 1397.23 billion, with a 6.3 per cent rise.

OBITUARY:

 Legendary Indian actress B. Saroja Devi, one of the most celebrated stars of Indian cinema, has passed away at the age of 87. She was a towering figure in South Indian cinema, especially during the 1950s to 1970s.

She acted in over 180 films across Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi cinema

Billy won 5 Bermuda Bowls in the 1970's, as well as 2 Vanderbilts, 2 Spin golds, 2 Reisinger’s and 2 Grand Nationals, as well as at least 9 other NABC events. In 1975 Billy won the Backgammon world title, and was regarded as one of the top players in the world in that game as well.

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari Dies at 82. Muhammadu Buhari, former President of Nigeria and one-time military ruler, passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82. He died in a London hospital, where he was being treated for long-term health problems.

MISHAPS: -

At least nine labourers were killed while 12 others got injured when a truck carrying mangoes overturned on the embankment of a tank in Andhra Pradesh's Annamayya district late on Sunday night. 

Nine people died Sunday night in an assisted living facility that caught fire in Fall River, MASSACHUSETTS, officials said, with elderly people begging for help.

A small aircraft crashed and burst into flames at London Southend Airport on Sunday afternoon, killing all four people on board, according to the Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Archives website. The victims are two pilots a doctor and a nurse, who were travelling in a Beechcraft B200 aircraft.

Three Gorges Dam is in danger, lake broken, 400,000 people evacuated in chaos. Due to heavy rains, upstream hydroelectric dams have overflowed, and lakes have broken. The Chinese government was forced to release water downstream, causing flooding in many localities, including Guizhou Province. The second wave of flooding in Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province arrived in the early morning of June 29, 2025. The entire Rongjiang City, with more than 42,000 people, was urgently evacuated within just 6 hours, from 5:00 pm on June 28, 2025, local time. Till 14/07—large amount of water was continuously discharged.

Other Big Dams in China are also in danger.

The Met Department has forecast very heavy to extremely heavy rain over Northwest, East, and Central parts of the country today. Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand will witness heavy rainfall over the next two days.

Crude oil prices rose over one percent yesterday as investors continued to keep watch for US sanctions on Russia that may affect global supplies.

Brent Crude was trading 1.36 per cent higher at 71 dollars and 32 cents per barrel, while WTI Crude was also up 1.49 per cent at 69 dollars and 47 cents per barrel.
