The United States reached a trade deal with South Korea during Trump’s visit to the country. South Korean President Lee Jae-myung’s chief of staff said the deal would reduce U.S. tariffs on South Korean goods from 25 percent to 15 percent. Both the countries also announced they would cooperate on regulating and developing technologies including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and quantum computing.

U.S. military strikes on four more boats allegedly carrying drugs killed fourteen people, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said yesterday. Mexico searched for a survivors.  Yesterday, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said that Mexico does “not agree” with the boat attacks.

China-ASEAN trade deal: China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) expanded their free trade pact yesterday to remove trade barriers for green and digital products.

Negotiations between the countries on shoring up a truce ended without a breakthrough, Pakistan’s information minister said yesterday. Pakistan’s defense minister warned Afghanistan’s Taliban government that Islamabad would retaliate against any attacks inside Pakistan.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is set to launch the CMS-03 satellite on November 2, enhancing military communication for the Indian Navy. Weighing 4,400 kg, it will improve connectivity in critical maritime areas.

CRIME & PUNISHMENT:

Delhi Police  busted an international drug cartel operating in India, Thailand, and the UAE with the arrest of a sacked Customs department officer and seizure of over 21 kg of high-grade "hydroponic marijuana" with a street value of ₹27 crore,  Rohit Kumar Sharma, a 35-year-old former inspector with the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), was arrested during a late-night operation in Janakpuri in South-West Delhi.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested Danish Chikna, a close aide of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and "kingpin" of a drug syndicate, from Goa.

ENVIRONMENTAL: -

If countries comply with their newly announced climate targets, annual global emissions will fall by an estimated 10 percent from 2019 levels by 2035, UN climate chief Simon Stiell said yesterday. Although it’s the first time the UN has forecast a steady decline in new emissions, meeting the international goal of limiting global warming to 1.5℃ (2.7℉) would require a 60 percent emissions cut by 2035.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD)  has said that Cyclone Montha, which has now weakened into a depression, brought light to moderate rain over parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

In Odisha, Cyclone Montha has affected 33 blocks and 11 urban areas across the state. The state government has set up 362 free kitchens, where cooked food is being provided to 18,762 people taking shelter in cyclone centers.

Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Cuba early yesterday morning as a Category 3 storm with winds near 115 miles per hour, the National Hurricane Center said. Even after the storm passed over Jamaica, ongoing rains made the damage difficult to assess. Jamaica’s airports were closed yesterday and much of the country was cut off from the internet.

EARLY MORNING  SKY GAZING:

Brilliant Venus  gleamed in the eastern sky before sunrise all month long while it reduced its angle from the sun, 24 degrees to 16 degrees.  The planet entered Virgo on Oct. 9, paired with the old crescent moon on Oct. 19, and then shined. Shared the IMAGE of Venus (শুকতারা). You can still see it, if eastern sky is clear in the early morning..
