Today, on October 31, India observes National Unity Day,
also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. This significant day commemorates the birth
anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as IRON MAN, a pivotal figure in
India's struggle for independence and the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home
Minister of India who integrated the princely states to INDIA .
My salute to him on his 150th birth anniversary.

Justice Surya Kant will be the next Chief Justice of India. His
appointment will be effective from the 24th of next month. Justice Surya Kant
will be the 53rd Chief Justice. He will succeed Chief Justice BR Gavai—whose
tenure was marred by an unpleasant incident.
The Eighth Session of the International k Alliance (ISA)
Assembly began in New Delhi with participation from representatives of more
than 120 countries. The event marked a significant milestone in global
cooperation for renewable energy. 
After starting the twin Vande Bharat trains on
Srinagar-Katra route, marking the completion of Udhampur-Srinagar -Baramulla
rail link in June, the northern railways is now eyeing to provide direct
connectivity between Kashmir and the rest of country. 
NITI Aayog has unveiled two landmark reports under the

TRADE TRUCE BETEEN USA & CHINA: One-year trade truce at XI--TRUMP
meeting in South Korea  will lower
tariffs and export controls, bringing temporary relief to businesses and
consumers. Trump said he will include a visit to China next year. In addition
to dropping a threat of 100 percent tariffs from earlier this month, the United
States will reduce tariffs on Chinese exports from 57 percent to 47 percent,
while China agreed to suspend its most recent export controls on rare earth
metals for one year.  Port charges are
also withdrawn. China will buy Soyabeans from USA. Trump called the meeting
“truly great,” while Xi said the countries should focus on the “long-term
benefits of cooperation.”
The meeting introduced a more comprehensive truce than
others the countries have reached in recent months.
U.S. wind-down in Romania. Some U.S. forces will withdraw
from Romania as part of a “process to ensure a balanced U.S. military force
posture,” U.S. Army Europe said. 
President Donald Trump’s administration has extended the
sanctions waiver for India’s operations at Iran’s Chabahar Port until at least
April 2026. The waiver, initially set to expire on 29 September 2025, ensures
India’s uninterrupted engagement in the strategic port project, a vital
component of its regional connectivity strategy. 
China has completed a major military infrastructure upgrade
at the Lhunze airbase in Tibet, roughly 150 kilometres from the Line of Actual
Control (LAC). Satellite imagery confirms the construction of 36 hardened
aircraft shelters, new administrative complexes, and an expanded tarmac apron. 
Dutch election: The far-right Freedom Party was
neck-and-neck with the centrist liberal Democrats 66  party in yesterday’s Dutch snap election with
almost all of the vote counted today. The Freedom Party’s leader triggered the
snap election after a dispute over immigration quotas and led the polls ahead
of the vote, but Democrats 66 surged in popularity late in the election.
Senior U.S. envoy Morgan Ortagus urged Lebanon’s government
to disarm Hezbollah by the end of the year during a visit to the country
yesterday, a deadline which the Lebanese government had endorsed back in
August.
Brazil’s police raid: A raid against drug trafficking in Rio
de Janeiro Tuesday left an estimated 132 people dead, including four police
officers, the state public defender’s office said. 
Britain’s King Charles has initiated a process to remove
Prince Andrew’s titles and given him notice to move to private accommodation,
Buckingham Palace said Thursday.

In Maharashtra, 19 people, including 17 children and a
senior citizen, were safely rescued today after being held hostage by a man
inside a studio in Mumbai’s Powai area. Police and fire brigade teams carried
out the rescue operation successfully. Being cornered , he opened shooting and
Police responded, in which the abductor was hit and declared dead when taken to
hospital.

Scientists have identified a vast pocket of trapped heat
beneath the Southern Ocean, calling it a “thermal time bomb” capable of
reigniting global warming even after emissions decline.
India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy
rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds are expected across multiple regions
from October 30 to November 2. The weather condition is triggered by the
combined impact of the remnant system of Severe Cyclonic Storm Montha and a
depression over the east central Arabian Sea.
