IRAN WAR:(Tehran Times, Israel Times, Washington Post, Al-Jazeera)

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi arrived in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Friday to discuss proposals for restarting peace talks with the U.S., offering some hope for an end to the eight-week war.

He has departed Islamabad,  after holding high-level meetings and delivering Tehran’s list of demands for ending the war to Pakistani officials.

Mr. Donald Trump later cancelled a planned trip to Pakistan by ‌envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff for peace talks with Iran saying it takes too much time and is too expensive.

What Emerge: Iran’s leaders, based on their statements on social media, seem to have concluded that they can withstand the blockade longer than Trump can bear soaring gas prices and an unpopular war, especially with US midterm elections later this year. Trump’s strategy: “China can survive for a time without Iranian oil,” he said, noting that Beijing gets 15 percent of its oil from Iran. “But Iran cannot survive that long without getting the money from the Chinese.”

This is where US President Donald Trump is trying to apply pressure on Iran’s leadership through the blockade, Pfeifle explained.

The aim is to “choke off the Iranian revenue stream as much as possible in the hopes that it “brings them to the negotiation table”.
