In Maharashtra, three people were killed after a speeding motorcycle hit a pedestrian at Marine Drive in Mumbai. The police said the accident occurred at 5.40 am at the Parsi Gymkhana junction signal on NS Road.

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY:

India is preparing to establish seven space laboratories across universities and colleges, marking a significant step in nurturing the next generation of rocket scientists, satellite engineers, and mission designers.

General Electric Aerospace and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited have reached a landmark technical agreement to co-produce F414 jet engines in India, with nearly 80 per cent of the manufacturing technology and intellectual property rights transferring to HAL.

CLIMATE:

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heat wave conditions at isolated places in the national capital today. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to reach 42 degrees Celsius.

Severe heatwave conditions are likely to continue across several northern and central states, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast over the Northeast and parts of eastern India, according to the latest All India Weather Summary and Forecast Bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

CRIME & PUNISHMENT:

Défense Minister Sadio Camara died in a wave of coordinated attacks across the country by separatists and extremist groups, state television announced. A separatist movement in the country’s north teamed up with al-Qaeda–linked militants to stage the attacks, members of those groups said Saturday. Russia, an ally of Mali’s junta, condemned the attacks.

GAMES & SPORTS: -

 In Badminton, the Indian men’s team has secured a place in the quarterfinals of the Thomas Cup tournament at Horsens in Denmark. In a Group A match yesterday, India defeated Australia 5-0. India had defeated Canada 4-1 in their opening group tie and will next face China to decide the group winners on Wednesday.

In shooting, Indian shooters topped the ISSF Junior World Cup 2026 standings in Cairo with 16 medals: five gold, six silver and five bronze, with two of these coming on the final day.

Sabastian Sawe made history at the London Marathon by becoming the first athlete to run a sub-two-hour marathon in a competitive race. The 31-year-old Kenyan crossed the line to win in one hour 59 minutes 30 seconds, more than one minute faster than the late Kelvin Kiptum’s previous record of two hours and 35 seconds, set in 2023.
