IRAN
WAR:
Hezbollah said it launched 17 drone and rocket strikes
against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, targeting Qantara, Biyyada, Taybeh,
Naqoura, Rishaf and Aita al-Shaab.
The humanitarian situation in Lebanon “remains highly
volatile despite the ceasefire”, and civilians continue to be impacted by
hostilities, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)
says.
President Donald Trump announced yesterday that the United
States had paused efforts to guide ships through the Strait of Hormuz while
negotiations with Iran move forward.
Trump said a deal with Iran is “very possible” after “very
good talks” over the past 24 hours, but Iran has not yet formally responded to
the latest US proposals, though messages are being exchanged via mediators in
Pakistan.
The two sides are currently considering a memorandum of
understanding to end the war and kickstart a thirty-day period of negotiations
to open the strait, limit Iranian nuclear activities, and relax U.S. sanctions,
four unnamed sources told Axios.
Iran has urged UN member states to reject a US-drafted
resolution on the safety of vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, calling it
“politically motivated”.
The Kurdish Democratic Party of Iran (PDKI) says Iran
launched drone strikes on a camp belonging to the group in northern Iraq on
Wednesday evening, the second attack on the group’s facilities in a single day.
The PDKI said on X that three drones struck the Zewi Aspi
base, while earlier on Wednesday, two drones targeted the Girde Chal camp, a
residential compound housing the relatives of PDKI members near Erbil in the
Kurdish region of Iraq.

Russia fired dozens of drone strikes at Ukraine overnight
despite Kyiv announcing a ceasefire that was set to begin at midnight,
Ukrainian officials said. Both countries announced ceasefires for different
dates this week, with neither accepting the dates proposed by the other.
Tokyo will accelerate plans for a loan to Pretoria
denominated in yen, unnamed Japanese officials told Bloomberg. The funding will
be used for energy investments. Japan plans to help South Africa use

Norway’s oil and gas expansion: The country's state-owned
energy company announced yesterday it has resumed production at a gas field
that it had previously written off as being commercially unviable. It moved to
activate the field during the energy shock caused by Russia’s invasion of
Ukraine. In the wake of the Iran war, Norway’s government is offering up
seventy new oil and gas exploration permits.
MISHAPS:
An IndiGo flight at
Chandigarh airport was evacuated after a power bank reportedly caught fire
inside the aircraft, causing panic among passengers. The incident took place
after the flight, arriving from Hyderabad, had already landed and was parked
for passengers to get off. Smoke filled the cabin following the fire, leading
to chaos onboard.
Malayalam Actor Santhosh Nair was killed after a road
accident at Enathu in the district in the early hours of Tuesday.
In Iran, eight people have been killed and 36 others injured
in a fire incident at a shopping centre near the capital, Tehran.

Mission Mausam Urban Testbed has been launched in India to

The Border Security Force has seized an abandoned Pakistani

OBITUARY:
Ted Turner,
the American media entrepreneur who founded Cable News Network (CNN), died at
