IRAN WAR:

Iran’s response to a US proposal to end the war has been sent via mediator Pakistan, according to the Iranian state news agency IRNA.

But in his first remarks since the development, US President Donald Trump on Sunday evening accused Iran of “playing games”.

Iran “has been playing games with the United States, and the rest of the World, for 47 years”, the president wrote on Truth Social. “They will be laughing no longer!”

Two hours later, he said on the same platform: “I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called ‘Representatives’. I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!”

Trump believes that Iran is “collapsing financially” and losing millions of dollars a day due to Washington’s naval blockade of Iranian ports, which began on April 13.

While the blockade is hurting Iran, analysts said they believe the country has the economic and political will to endure it.

India has marked a major breakthrough in hypersonic missile development with the Defence Research & Development Laboratory of DRDO successfully conducting an extensive long-duration test of its Actively Cooled Full Scale Scramjet Combustor. The test was carried out at the Scramjet Connect Pipe Test Facility in Hyderabad on 9 May 2026.

A suicide bomber and several gunmen mounted a deadly assault on a security post in northwest Pakistan late on Saturday, detonating an explosives‑laden vehicle and sparking a fierce firefight that left at least three police officers dead. The incident occurred in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan.

  EXIT POLL: BENGAL-2026 SARASIJ MAJUMDER   PHASE:--1 One hundred and fifty-two constituencies ( 152) across 16 districts voted in the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly polls on April 23. 54 of these seats are spread across the region where Muslim population is quite sizeable. These seats, which are spread across the Murshidabad, Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, and Birbhum districts, Muslims overwhelmingly voted for the Trinamool Congress in 2021 — where TMC won in 49 compared to just five for the Bharatiya Janata Party. Muslims, also voted in large, very large number, this time, in my opinion,—to show their anger over SIR, which many of them were told as ‘Anti-Muslim Exercise’ by BJP.
