Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the FAO Agricola Medal on 20 May 2026 at the Food and Agriculture
Organization Headquarters in Rome, Italy.
The FAO Agricola Medal is the highest honour bestowed by the
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. It is awarded to global leaders and heads of state who
have made outstanding contributions to agricultural development, food security,
and rural poverty reduction.
Modi and Meloni outline road map for India-Italy strategic
partnership. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni
joint op-ed talks about emerging “Indo-Mediterranean” corridor and pushes for
€20-billion bilateral trade target by 2029.
India and Italy finalized 15 outcomes across diverse

The Telangana High Court has issued strong directions to the
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Traffic Police officials to

India has successfully submerged its decommissioned naval
ship INS Guldar off the coast of Sindhudurg in Maharashtra, marking the

A day after arresting the fourth suspect in connection with
the killing of Shuvendu Adhikari’s executive assistant, Chandranath Rath, the
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Tuesday arrested another accused from
Varanasi. Officials said the arrested man, identified as 40-year-old Vinay Rai
alias Pumpum Rai, originally hails from the Zamani area of Ghazipur. As per
information, officials said, Rai had relocated to Varanasi several years ago,
where he was engaged in property dealing. “A CBI team produced Vinay Rai before
a local court in Varanasi and secured a two-day transit remand,” a senior
police official in Varanasi said.

Now, ‘Pushpa’ may be on the ED’s radar! An allegation has
been lodged with the ED against Jahangir by BJP leader Bidhan Parui. Bidhan,
who was the BJP candidate for the Falta constituency in both the 2016 and 2021
elections, has accused Jahangir of assaulting him to forcibly seize his
property. This complaint against Jahangir was formally filed with the ED by the
BJP leader. Jahangir Khan withdrew from the electoral fray in Falta, and
restrained himself at home. But Jahangir’s name will remain on the ballot as
the deadline for withdrawal of nominations has already passed. I think EC shall made some arrangement at every
booth, that Voters know Jahangir has withdrawn.

West Bengal Chief Minister Shuvendu Adhikari announced
immediate initiation of deportation proceedings against illegal Bangladeshi
infiltrators under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, or CAA. The Chief Minister
made the announcement at state secretariat, Nabanna during a land handover
ceremony to the Border Security Force (BSF) for border fencing.

Samsung Electronics workers' union said late on Wednesday
(May 20) that a planned strike had been put on hold until further notice after
negotiations with management resumed with the participation of Seoul's labour
minister.
The company's management and workers' union had resumed
talks earlier in the day in a last-ditch attempt to avert a strike.

The investigations into the recent incidents of fire
reported in trains have revealed the possible involvement of anti-social
elements in several cases. Sources said that the Railway has taken these
incidents seriously, and the Railway Protection Force is carrying out intensive
investigations into the matter. In an incident near Amarapura station in
Rajasthan, an attempt was made by an unidentified individual to set fire to
linen materials inside a coach, which led to the outbreak of fire. In a
separate case in Howrah, a piece of cloth soaked in petrol was recovered from
the bathroom of a train that caught fire. IT IS ALMOST
IMPOSSIBLE TO DETECT IT BEFOREHAND, AND STOP IT!
National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognisance
of the reported suspicious death of a 33-year-old woman from Noida in Bhopal.
