Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced a major
decision on revising minimum wages for workers in Telangana dividing the
workers into four categories and into three zones in the State.
The state has been divided into three zones for determining
minimum wages. Zone-1 includes Municipal Corporations, Zone-2 covers
Municipalities, while Zone-3 consists of rural areas.
Delhi government plans to raise ration card income
eligibility from ₹1.2 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh annually while cancelling 7.72 lakh
cards in a major public distribution system cleanup. The move could expand

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said the government will
launch the Smart Border Project to make the entire border even more

The Enforcement Directorate on Friday (May 22, 2026)
conducted fresh searches at multiple premises in West Bengal as part of a money
laundering probe linked to arrested Kolkata Police officer Shantanu Sinha
Biswas and an alleged criminal Biswajit Poddar alias Sona Pappu, officials
said. They said a total of nine premises in Kolkata and Murshidabad are being
raided.

Several properties linked to Trinamool Congress general

A five-year-old tweet linked to West Bengal’s post-poll
violence executed by TMC has landed Parambrata Chatterjee ( actor) and Swastika
Mukherjee (actress) in soup, with an FIR registered against them at Kolkata's
Gariahat Police Station by Lawyer Joydeep Sen. In his complaint, Sen claimed
that after the TMC crossed the majority mark, Parambrata had posted on May 2,
2021: “Let today be declared World Thrashing Day”, the news agency reported.
Responding to the post, Swastika had allegedly said: “Hahaha, let it be”. Advocate
Joydeep Sen accused them of abetting and instigating the large-scale post-poll
violence that erupted in West Bengal in May 2021, causing loss of 60 lives.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says there has been some
“slight progress” in talks with Iran to end the war, adding that he did not
wish to exaggerate how much. He further said
that Iran imposing tolls for transit in the Strait of Hormuz is simply
unacceptable and cannot happen. If this were to occur in the Strait of
Hormuz, then it would also happen in

Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Tehran reports that Pakistani
officials are engaged in “intense mediation activity”, while a senior Iranian
official said a deal was close. A second Iranian source, however, said it was
too early to say whether a final agreement could be reached.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says that 35 ships transited the
Strait of Hormuz with Iran’s permission in the last 24 hours.
Continuing his comments on the Strait of Hormuz, UAE
presidential advisor Anwar Gargash said there is just a “50-50” chance that the

As many as six labourers and one supervisor suffered

India’s Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission has been honoured with
the 2026 Goddard Astronautics Award by the American Institute of Aeronautics
and Astronautics.
The Department of Space approved Common Technical Facilities
in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu on 22 May 2026. The facilities are linked to India’s
private-sector space manufacturing ecosystem and are being developed with the
involvement of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre.
India’s rooftop solar capacity reached 20.8 GW in 2025 after
7.1 GW of new installations, which marked a 123% year-on-year increase. The
residential sector accounted for 76% of annual rooftop solar installations in
2025, and the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana remained the main policy support
for the segment.
Around 45 ships are under construction within the country

India recorded 97 of the world’s 100 hottest cities on 22
May 2026 during a heatwave across northern, central and eastern India. Balangir
in Odisha touched 48°C, while Sasaram in Bihar also reached 48°C and Varanasi
in Uttar Pradesh recorded 47°C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red
colour warning for heat wave to severe heat wave conditions over East Madhya
Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha today. IMD has also issued orange
colour warning for heat wave conditions over Delhi, Haryana, Punjab,
Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha. Similar
conditions will prevail over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Madhya
Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh for the day.
