Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced that one lakh teachers will be recruited in the state over the next five years.

The Bihar government yesterday announced free travel on state-run buses for all students appearing for the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled on June 21.

In Telangana, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) has achieved a major milestone in kidney transplant surgery by completing 2,000 transplants, making it a leading institution in South India for the procedure.

In Jharkhand, Latehar Police arrested an active self-styled sub-zonal commander, on whom Rs. 5 lakh award was announced.  Shiv Narayan Singh belonging to  the extremist outfit JJMP (Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad), is arrested during a special operation.

The Centre has asked Gymkhana Club in New Delhi to hand over its premises by 5th of next month, citing that the land was required for strengthening defence infrastructure. An order issued by the Land and Development Office under the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry yesterday stated that the land is essential to fulfil urgent institutional needs.

BENGAL FILES:

The Ayushman Bharat scheme will start in West Bengal from July, this year. Chief Minister Shuvendu Adhikari announced it in Kolkata after a virtual meeting with Union Health Minister JP Nadda.

As part of nationwide drive to prevent cervical cancer, the HPV Vaccination campaign will start in West Bengal from 30th May this year. Chief Minister Shuvendu Adhikari today announced that the HPV Vaccination drive will be initiated from the Bidhannagar Sub Divisional hospital in Kolkata.

Nabanna seeks vacancy data from all departments by June 3; Shuvendu's  government signals the commencement of the recruitment process in the state.

Trinamool’s Kalyan is upset with CPI(M)’s Bikash for lawyering for former TMC MLA. CPI(M) says TMC melting down faster than ice; hopes to take over Opposition space in West Bengal.

Is CPI (M) welcoming elected TMC MLAs to change party enmasse!?!?

The CPI(M) leader Mohammed Salim said the party will fight for the safety of the minorities and any impending danger to the culture of West Bengal and amity among the people. Now CPI (M) is back in the old game of  playing the ‘MINOREITY CARD’.

Six individuals, including Trinamool leader Shankar Raut, have been arrested in Baranagar. They face charges ranging from extortion, assault, and intimidation to molestation.

The dead body of TMC councillor Sanjay Das is recovered from his house at DUM DUM. He was close to  Sujit Basu (arrested), and Debraj (sub-judice). It is alleged that local people wanted him to return the land he forcefully acquired. It could be a murder also. Police shall investigate properly.

There will be a holiday on May 28th in West Bengal on the occasion of Bakri Eid.

CRIME & PUNISHMENT:

In Maharashtra, a 1,500-page charge sheet was filed yesterday before the court at Nashik in connection with the alleged sexual assault and attempted religious conversion case linked to a TCS facility in the city.

National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports regarding the alleged abduction, gang-rape, and forced religious conversion of a Dalit woman in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar. NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has written to the Delhi Commissioner of Police, Delhi, directing immediate, stringent action.

Indian Army Clarifies Men Seen At AAP-RJD Function Were Removed Over Misconduct.  The Army said the individuals seen in the video were either dismissed from service for misconduct or are currently facing disciplinary and legal proceedings.

The Indian Army has issued a clarification over a press conference video circulating on social media and television platforms, alleging that attempts were being made to damage the image of the force through “fake, malicious and misleading narratives".

In Tamil Nadu, a Special Court in Tiruppur has sentenced 25 Bangladeshi labourers to two years of imprisonment for illegal stay in India. The workers were staying without valid documents while employed at a textile company in Palladam in Tiruppur district.

They should earn their livelihood in prison.

On the second day of the 2026 Athletics Federation Cup, Gurindervir Singh clinched the gold medal in the men’s 100m event in Ranchi with a new national record timing of 10.09 seconds. On 22 May 2026, the Delhi High Court allowed Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat to take part in the selection trials for the Asian Games 2026. The trials are scheduled for 30 and 31 May 2026, and the case involved eligibility rules issued by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).

Reserve Bank of India approved a dividend of ₹2,86,588.46 crore for the Central Government for the accounting year 2025-26 on 22 May 2026. The amount is the largest surplus transfer in the history of the Reserve Bank of India and is 6.7% higher than the ₹2.69 lakh crore transferred in 2024-25.
