The Sanskrit
phrase "यतो धर्मस्ततो जयः" (Yato Dharmastato Jayaḥ) from the
Mahabharata translates to "Where there is Dharma (righteousness/justice),
there is Victory". It is a well-known verse with 13 occurrences in the
epic, associated with the principle that moral conduct triumphs.

Several Trinamool Congress (TMC) councillors and local
leaders in West Bengal have been arrested in multiple police actions across the
state, facing charges of extortion, intimidation, and running illegal rackets. Recent
notable arrests include:
Sudip Polley: Councillor of Ward 123 (Behala) arrested by
Thakur Pukur police for alleged extortion and intimidation.
Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation: Four TMC councillors (
Samrat Barua from Ward 6, Samaresh Chakraborty, Sushobhan Mandal, and Ranjan
Poddar) were taken into custody.
Sukumar Roy: TMC councillor of Ward 22 in Bongaon, detained
by the police following allegations of operating a prostitution racket.
Amirul Sekh Islam: A councillor from the Diamond Harbour
area who was arrested after being caught attempting to board a flight with live
ammunition.
It is known that a group 19 TMC MP decided to support BJP in
Parliament. It is not known whether they will still sit in opposition or in
Treasury bench. It seems, Smt. Kakali Ghosh Dastidar is one of them.
Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar quits all party posts, including chairperson of TMC’s women wing, on

Renowned Bengali filmmaker Anik Datta passed away on May 27,
2026, following a fatal fall from the terrace of his apartment building in the
