Six
states agree to sign MoU for Kishau Multi-Purpose Dam Project: Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a crucial
meeting in New Delhi, during which consensus was reached among six states on
the long-pending Kishau Multi-Purpose Dam Project aimed at the rejuvenation of
the Yamuna River.
Assam’s cultural heritage and traditional products have
gained global recognition, with four unique products from the state being
awarded Geographical Indication (GI) tags. The products that have received GI
tags include Bah Silpa-Assamese Bamboo Craft, Karbi Anglong Handloom, Bihu Pepa
and Deori Handloom Products.
Department of Heritage Telangana signed a Memorandum of
Understanding with the Noor International Microfilm Centre, Iran Cultural
House, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, New Delhi, on 15 June 2026 for
the digitisation, preservation, conservation, and cataloguing of rare
manuscripts, paintings, books, and archival records. The agreement covers about
737 manuscripts, 3,091 paintings, 14,522 library books, and 101 Dastawazats,
which are archival records.
Telangana launched its flagship Breakfast and Milk Scheme on
15 June 2026, when schools reopened after the summer vacation. The scheme
covers students from pre-primary to Class XII in government schools and junior
colleges across the state, it has allocated an annual expenditure of ₹720 crore
for the scheme.
Uttar Pradesh government has launched a dedicated
registration portal for the Chief Minister’s cashless medical scheme for
teachers and their dependents. The portal, cmtcts.upsdc.gov.in, was rolled out
on 6 June 2026 for basic education teachers under the education department.
The Vajra Corps of the Indian Army has appealed to the
countrymen that when they visit the border state of Punjab, do not forget to
visit Gurudwara Saragarhi Sahib, Hussainiwala Memorial and battle-scarred walls
of Ferozepur Fort in Ferozepur and the Asal Uttar in Khemkaran town of Tarn
Taran, famously known as the graveyard of Pakistani tanks.
Gurudwara Saragarhi Sahib is dedicated to those 21 Sikh
soldiers of the 36 Sikh Regiment of British Indian Army who fought valiantly
with ten thousand Afghani tribesmen to defend their post at Saragarhi in
Waziristan on September, 12 1897.
This battle has no parallels in the military history in
which 21 soldiers displayed extraordinary bravery and died while defending and
not surrendered or abandoned their post.
India has welcomed the understanding reached between the
United States and Iran on ending the conflict in West Asia and open the Strait
of Hormuz, the narrow waterway used to ferry one-fifth of the global oil
supplies.
A Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier, Disha, safely

India and Slovakia elevated their ties to a comprehensive
partnership.
The two sides also inked 11 agreements to boost cooperation
in key areas including labour migration, digital technology and defence
following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Slovak counterpart
Robert Fico in Bratislava.
This is the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to

The UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution
calling on Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers to swiftly reverse their crackdown on

the UN political mission in Afghanistan until June 17 next year.
Biometric enrolment of refugees from Myanmar and Bangladesh
taking shelter in Mizoram is nearing completion. State Home Department
officials said that biometric registration of 29,047 Myanmar refugees out of
29,727, and 1,447 refugees from Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts out of
1,487, has been completed. This accounts for more than 97 per cent coverage in
both categories.
IRAN
WAR:
Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with Netanyahu’s actions
in Lebanon, stating that the Israeli prime minister “has to be more
responsible”, and adding, “I’m not happy” with how Israel has handled its
invasion and the conflict with Hezbollah.
Hezbollah said that Iran, its ally, has given it guarantees
that Tehran will insist on a pullout of Israeli forces from Lebanon during the
upcoming stage of negotiations with Washington.
Beijing has cautioned that the upcoming round of talks
between the US and Iran will face greater hurdles. During a conversation with
his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated
that “it is foreseeable that, compared with the first stage, the second stage
of negotiations will be more difficult” for both nations.
Combined strikes by the US and Israel on Iran have killed at
least 1,265 people and injured 2,800 more in the country’s capital, Tehran,
according to Mehdi Babaei, who chairs the City Council Safety Committee.
Lebanese health officials have updated the casualties from
the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, stating that 3,826 people

with the alleged fraudulent assignment of YES Bank loans during the financial

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached a house
in Amritsar, Punjab, allegedly linked to a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative in a
transnational narco-terror network case with footprints spread across multiple
countries. The NIA said that the property was registered in the name of the
father of accused Ankush Kapoor, a key operative in India of the narco-terror
network spread across Italy, Australia, Iran, Thailand, UAE and Pakistan, among
other nations.
MONSOON
IN INDIA:
Satellite imaging reports display a severe collapse in
rainfall, leaving India facing an acute 64% monsoon deficit. The India
Meteorological Department (IMD) expects the monsoon to gradually advance with
heavy rain warnings for the Northeast, though North India continues to grapple
with severe heatwaves.
*Fresh data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD)
shows that India has received only 19.2 mm of rainfall against a normal of 53.7
mm between June 4 and June 15, translating into a nationwide rainfall deficit
of 64%.

Major Road Accidents:
Pune, Maharashtra: Nine people, including a 6-year-old
child, were killed near Shriram Dhaba on the Jejuri Morgaon road. A speeding
car lost control amid heavy rainfall and poor visibility, ramming into a group
of people who were unloading a refrigerator from a pickup truck.
Devanahalli, Karnataka: A dramatic chain-reaction crash
occurred near Lakshmipura Gate on National Highway 648. An out-of-control lorry
hit a tractor, crossed the highway median, and collided head-on with an
oncoming Mahindra Bolero. Though captured on CCTV as a horrific impact, all
three drivers miraculously survived with injuries.
Sundargarh, Odisha: A morning walker, identified as Bhola
Patra, was run over and killed by a sand-laden hyva truck at Jharaeana on the
Jharsuguda-Rourkela bypass. The incident triggered intense local protests,
resulting in locals blocking the highway to demand traffic police deployment
and compensation.
Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh: A motorcyclist lost his life
after falling directly into an open pit at an incomplete bridge site.
Sirlim & Guirim, Goa: Multiple road mishaps hit Goa,
including a severe hit-and-run in Sirlim where a rented Mahindra Thar struck a
woman on a scooter and fled. Separately, a 24-year-old rider was killed on the
Guirim national highway after a collision with a Toyota Innova.
One person was killed and four others injured after a
6.3-magnitude earthquake jolted Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous
Prefecture in northwest China.
Nine people were killed and 25 others injured after a train
collided with a bus in Triangle, a sugar-producing town in southern Zimbabwe.
