What is the “CAGR”—Compounded Annual Growth Rate of a Husband?

Read below, to work out.

In the year 1997 a Hindi movie was released starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, and Urmila Matondkar – Title—“JUDAAI”.

Judaai means ‘SEPERATION’

In the film, Urmila falls head over heels in love with Anil Kapoor, who happens to be her colleague in the same company.

Determined to get her man - despite the in spite of the fact  that he is already married - she makes relentless efforts to win him over. With standard ‘Nachna- Gana’.. Agera-Bagera…

But all romantic strategies failed, still she didn’t lose hope.

She switches to corporate strategy and places a bold offer in front of Anil Kapoor’s wife, Sridevi--: ₹1 crore to be paid for releasing Mr. Anil Kapoor from Matrimonial Bondage!

Sridevi, after a quick mental calculation, happily accepts the deal and, divorced her husband without any further claim,  in exchange for ₹1 crore, and hands over her husband Anil Kapoor to Urmila.

In short, sells him off !!!

Now, a very similar (and rather heart-warming) real-life incident has appeared in a Bhopal Newspaper.

A widely reported and unusual family court counseling case from Bhopal involved a wife who effectively "traded" or agreed to a monetary settlement of about ₹1.5 crore from her husband's girlfriend to grant a divorce.

The Real-Life Incident--The Affair: A 42-year-old married government employee in Bhopal became involved with a 54-year-old female colleague.

The Court Intervention: Frequent arguments at home severely distressed their daughters, and their eldest daughter eventually approached the Bhopal Family Court.

The Settlement: During counseling, the husband stated he wanted to live with his partner. The wife agreed to a mutual separation and divorce on the condition that the girlfriend pay for her and her children's financial security.

The Amount: The final agreed settlement totalled roughly ₹1.5 crore, which included a luxury duplex house and ₹27 lakh in cash paid by the girlfriend.

The Comparison: The real-life story drew massive media attention and viral comparisons to the Bollywood movie Judaai (and regional films like Shubhalagnam), where a wife similarly accepts money to give up her husband. Legally, it was structured and recorded as a mutual divorce and financial settlement rather than an actual commercial sale.

 

So, in 1997, Anil Kapoor was sold for ₹1.0 crore in a movie, and in real life, this gentleman from Bhopal has been sold for ₹1 crore 50 lakhs in 2026.

From this incident, one thing is conclusively proven:

Even during  these times of soaring inflation, the market value of married men has barely increased in the last 29 years.

*Moral of the story:*

Sensex may rise, gold may glitter, real estate may boom - but

 *Husbands remain a remarkably low appreciation asset.*
