The new Chief of RAW—a worthy successor to Mr. Ajit Doval —is PARAG JAIN, one of the true masterminds behind #Operation Sindoor#.

Some of the readers of my BLOG  may not know him in details, but ISI--the main intelligence agency of Pakistan knows him all too well.

Background:

Parag Jain holds advanced qualifications in both the humanities and public administration from premier domestic and international institutions:

Master of Arts (M.A.) in History: He completed his higher education and earned his Master's degree from the prestigious St. Stephen's College, Delhi University.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Public Service: Later in his career, he pursued specialized higher studies abroad and earned an MBA in Public Service from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.

Professional Police Training: Following his selection into the Indian Police Service in 1989, he completed his foundational and strategic law enforcement training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad.

Renowned in national security circles as a "Super Sleuth," he possesses decades of profound expertise in counter-terrorism, technical intelligence, and cross-border surveillance.

Over his career spanning nearly 37 years, Parag Jain has served in critical law enforcement and intelligence capacities both within India and internationally:

A compiled year-by-year timeline details his official postings, operational deployments, and recognized achievements across his career:

1989 – 1999: Ground Operations & Anti-Militancy Phase1989: Officially joined the IPS under the Punjab Cadre as a Direct Recruit (RR).Early 1990s: Posted sequentially as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the sensitive border and interior districts of Bhatinda, Mansa, and Hoshiarpur.

Achievement: Led high-risk field tactical deployments during the absolute peak of the Khalistan militancy crisis in Punjab, working directly to restore public order. Mid-1990s: Appointed as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Late 1990s: Promoted to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for the Ludhiana Range in Punjab.

2000 – 2018: Shifted to Central Intelligence & Global Diplomatic Stints.

2003: Officially moved from state policing to a long-term Central Deputation within the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW).

2005: Formally decorated with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS) for his dedication to national safety framework operations.

Mid-2000s – 2010s: Assigned to oversee R&AW's core Pakistan Desk. During this era, he completed multiple foreign postings:

Stint in Sri Lanka: Served as an intelligence diplomat managing regional geopolitical stability. His achievements were well covered in Indian News Papers.

Stint in Canada: Stationed at an Indian diplomatic mission where he successfully mapped, monitored, and countered growing oversea modules hostile to India. I don’t want to write more details about this period.

2019 – 2024: Strategic Crises Management & High Rank Promotion

2019: Stationed on the ground in Jammu & Kashmir.

Achievement: Coordinated structural intelligence management during both the Balakot Airstrike operations and the transition period surrounding the Abrogation of Article 370.

2021 – 2022: Promoted to the highest police hierarchy rank of Director General of Police (DGP) at Pay Level 16 (Notional within the Punjab Cadre while continuing Central Deputation).

2023 – 2024: Appointed to head the Aviation Research Centre (ARC), the specialized technical imagery and aerial electronic reconnaissance wing of R&AW.

2025 – Present: Supreme Intelligence & Security Command.

May 2025: Orchestrated the master plan behind Operation Sindoor.

Achievement: Seamlessly fused human intelligence (HUMINT) and technical intelligence (TECHINT) to track hostile movements, enabling the armed forces to execute pinpoint missile strikes on active cross-border 9 terror camps. No Civilian habitat was hit.

July 1, 2025: Formally assumed charge as the Secretary of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) for a fixed two-year tenure.

November 12, 2025 – May 24, 2026: Handed an essential additional charge by the Prime Minister as the Secretary (Security) at the Cabinet Secretariat.

Achievement: Oversaw administrative coordination for the Special Protection Group (SPG) tasked with the PM's direct physical security shield.

2026 (Current): Actively serving at the peak Pay Level 17 apex scale, steering India’s absolute external intelligence apparatus amid shifting global balances.
