Prime Minister distributed more than 51,000 appointment
letters to newly appointed youth in various government organizations at the
20th Rozgar Mela yesterday via video conferencing.
Indian Railways has approved the provision of Kavach
Version 4.0 on over six hundred Route Kilometers of the Lucknow Division of
North Eastern Railway. The cost of the project is over 250 crore rupees.
Railways Ministry said that the approved project will extend Kavach 4.0
coverage across the identified balance sections of the division.
Indian Railways has approved the provision of Electronic
Interlocking at seven stations of Solapur Division of Central Railway at a cost
of over two hundred crore rupees.
Indian Railways has approved 133 Crore rupees for the
construction of a four-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) on Udhna-Ukai Songadh
Section of Western Railway. The Railways Ministry said that the bridge portion
will comprise an Open Web Girder, with an estimated cost of over 91 crore
rupees.
Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, S
Krishnan, today said that India currently accounts for nearly 20 percent of the
world’s semiconductor design workforce. He said that the government has placed
substantial emphasis on design talent, with an ongoing program to train
approximately 85 thousand design engineers.
Karnataka approved a five-year Marine Biotechnology
Policy for 2026-2031 on 18 September 2026. The policy aims to expand the
state’s Blue Bioeconomy, increase marine biotechnology-based enterprise, and
create institutional and industrial infrastructure along the Karnataka coast.
LPG: From October, biometric Aadhaar authentication will be required for subsidized domestic LPG refills; the government says 27.43 crore active domestic LPG consumers had completed authentication as of September 19.

West Bengal police arrested Milan Pradhan, the Congress
candidate for the upcoming October 6 Nandigram Assembly by poll, on September
18. The arrest occurred just hours after former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

The Allegations: Police stated the arrest was a lawful

NEPAL FLOOD:
India yesterday dispatched a fresh tranche of 11 tons of
relief material to Nepal, including medicines, forensics supplies, tents,
hygiene kits, sleeping bags and other essential supplies.
The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation
appointed a team of specialists in hydrology, glaciology, remote sensing,
geology, and disaster risk reduction. The panel has been ordered to submit a
preliminary report within a month evaluating how the disaster unfolded and the
precise role of climate.
Nepal plans to claim $20 million from the United Nations
Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage. Prime Minister Shah is scheduled to
present this case for climate justice at the UN General Assembly next week.
GULF WAR:
Iran’s security chief Mohsen Rezaei gave an exclusive
interview to Al Jazeera, in which he said that Tehran’s conditions for ending
the war had been communicated to the US via Qatar mediation.
He named the conditions as follows: an end to the war on
all fronts, the unfreezing of Iranian funds and an end to the US military
blockade of Iranian ports.
He also said that Iran recently tested a new anti-ship
ballistic missile and would not hesitate to use it if the US wants to return to
a state of all-out war.
Yemen’s Houthis said they attacked what they called
“sensitive” sites in Riyadh with a ballistic missile and drones, in addition to
an Aramco facility in Yanbu.
The Saudi-led coalition forces said that all attempts to
target Saudi territory were thwarted, and that none of the Houthis’ attacks hit
their targets.
Washington urged citizens across nine countries in the
Middle East to exercise caution, warning that Saudi-Houthi hostilities have the
potential to “escalate rapidly”.
The coalition also condemned what it called the Houthis’
targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, while also
saying its forces reserve the right to respond.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Saudi
Arabia should not be dragged into conflict, and that the country may have some
military needs that can be addressed by the newly inked Mecca Joint Defense
Agreement.
Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi will travel to
Tehran tomorrow for talks with officials. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson
said that he is not expected to deliver a response to Iranian proposals to end
the war from the US.
BALOCH NEWS:
The intense counter-insurgency push follows an escalation
in conflict. The Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed to have carried out
28 separate operations earlier in September—including an ambush on a
paramilitary convoy at Ziarat Cross. Recent data from the Pakistan Institute
for Conflict and Security Studies noted a 7%
month-on-month rise in regional attacks.
Separately on September 18, a major security crisis
unfolded in the neighboring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where a suicide
bombing and gun raid on a historic police compound in Kohat killed at least 24
people, primarily police officers.
LAW, CRIME & PUNISHMENT:
Court deposits: The Supreme Court has asked the Law
Commission of India to examine the lack of uniformity in laws and procedures
governing money deposited before courts and tribunals.
The government has debunked a message circulating on
social media claiming that gifts are being distributed by India Post under the
Dak Seva Gifts scheme. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau said
that the claim is fake and India Post has no connection to any gift, reward, or
lucky draw scheme called Dak Seva Gifts.
Tamil Nadu is in war path with SC on Navodaya Schools in
Tamil Nadu using ‘LEGISLATION’.
Supreme Court observed on September 17, 2026, stating
that Tamil Nadu should change its anti-Hindi mindset and that states cannot

Pakistan blast: An explosion at a mosque inside the Kohat
Police Lines in Pakistan was reported to have killed at least 21 people and
injured more than 80.

Monsoon withdrawal begins: The southwest monsoon has
started withdrawing from parts of West Rajasthan. IMD said cumulative rainfall
was about 15% below normal as of 19 September. A low-pressure system over the
North Andaman Sea is expected to bring rain to parts of Odisha and Andhra
Pradesh.

*In the Chess Olympiad*, the Indian men’s team defeated
Spain 3-1, with world champion D Gukesh leading the way with a clean victory
over former world championship challenger Alexei Shirov in Samarkand yesterday.

India will host the Asian Senior Wushu Championships for

The Ministry of Ayush is advancing the use of Artificial
Intelligence in Ayurveda and other Ayush systems, building on the Ayush Grid

NASA expanded its Commercial Crew Transportation
Capability (CCtCap) contract with SpaceX on 18 September 2026 through a 946
million modification. The revised agreement adds three more crewed Dragon
flights, named Crew-15, Crew-16, and Crew-17, for missions to the International
Space Station (ISS). The total value of SpaceX’s CCtCap contract has risen to
about 5.92 billion, and the contract period runs through 2030.

OBITUARY: Flight Lieutenant Alfred Tyrone Cooke,
a Vir Chakra awardee of the Indian Air Force, died on 18 September 2026 at Base
Hospital, New Delhi, at the age of 87. He was known for an air engagement
during the 1965 Indo-Pak War over Kalai Kunda in West Bengal, where he flew a
Hawker Hunter against Pakistani Sabre Jets, (USA BUILT AND SUPPLIED TO PAKISTAN) and chased
them away beyond our Eastern Border.
