Assam Chief Minister announced that the foundation stone of ISRO’s Advanced Radar Research Centre would be laid at Chandrapur. ISRO chairperson V Narayanan was present at the ceremony. The centre is part of Project NETRA (Network for Space Object Tracking and Analysis), which strengthens India’s ability to track satellites and debris in orbit.

West Bengal is seeing massive corporate development alongside legal and infrastructure overhauls following a multi-billion-rupee investment blitz. On September 24, 2026, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani announced a landmark commitment of ₹1 lakh crore ($12 billion USD) in West Bengal by 2035. The announcement took place alongside newly sworn-in Chief Minister Adhikari during the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the ₹4,000 crore, 2,000-bed Adani Arogya Mandir multi-speciality hospital in New Town, Kolkata, which is projected to generate 10,000 jobs.

Madrasa Decommissioning: The West Bengal Cabinet enacted an in-principal directive to gradually shut down 250 government-recognised private madrasas. The targeted institutions are cited as having negligible student enrolment and failing baseline infrastructural standards; they will close permanently in December.

Mega Recruitment Push: To boost local employment, the state council cleared a massive administrative hiring wave to recruit 1.51 lakh personnel across state entities, including 12,000 posts for the West Bengal Police and 4,000 for the Kolkata Police.

Pre-Puja DA Arrears Settled: The state Finance Department announced the clearance of seven years of outstanding Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears for government workers. Fulfilling a mandate by the Supreme Court, arrears spanning April 2008 to December 2015 will be deposited directly to bank and GPF accounts before the upcoming Durga Puja festival. GULF WAR:

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Iran wants the US to return to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) by early November. “We wish Americans to return to the MoU before the midterms,” Pezeshkian told media outlets at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), NBC News reported.

The Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthis said that its forces had intercepted six ballistic missiles fired by the Houthis.

In the UAE, the Central Bank (CBUAE) has imposed strict enforcement measures on the UAE branches of Bank Melli Iran. The action followed violations of UAE laws and regulatory requirements relating to money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing.

BALOCH FILES:

Baluchistan is under an active 30-day security lockdown following the province-wide imposition of Section 144. The Home Department implemented the order on September 23, 2026, explicitly banning the assembly of five or more people, public rallies, sit-ins, and the display of weapons. Additionally, the state has prohibited individuals from covering or concealing their faces with masks or mufflers in public areas to ensure identification.  The drastic legal measures align with a major surge in armed conflict, cross-border skirmishes, and resource disputes across the region.

Military Escalations & Border Clashes: 19 Militants Killed in Quetta and Kech: According to a September 24 statement from the Pakistan Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces eliminated 19 militants in separate intelligence-based clearance operations. The largest engagement took place in the Shaban area of the Quetta district, where 13 militants were killed. One Pakistani soldier, Subedar Muhammad Jamil, was killed during the firefights.

BLA Counterclaims: Conversely, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) issued a statement on September 24 claiming it conducted 25 separate guerrilla operations across Panjgur, Kech, Kharan, and Mastung between September 14 and 23. The BLA asserted these attacks resulted in the deaths of 18 Pakistani security personnel, though these figures conflict with state-issued counts.

Afg-Pak Border Firefight: Late on September 24, Pakistani border troops reportedly engaged in a deadly clash with Afghan Taliban fighters in the Gulistan sector of Baluchistan. State media Dawn reported that several Afghan fighters were killed after trying to cross into Pakistani territory, following days of highly elevated border tensions.

NEPAL NEWS:

Nepal is currently on high alert following a severe weather warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall forecast from 24 to 27 September 2026. The Nepal Department of Hydrology and Meteorology issued the alert due to a low-pressure weather system moving inland from the Bay of Bengal, creating major fears of fresh landslides and flash floods. This brewing weather threat comes exactly one month after a catastrophic, high-altitude glacial mountain collapse on August 26 triggered an "apocalyptic" flood wave across the Tibet-Nepal border region. The aftermath of that initial disaster remains staggering, with 1,451 confirmed deaths and over 5,700 people still missing.

 Active Weather Alerts & Danger Zones--Regions at Risk: The highest intensity rain is expected across the southern plains of the Koshi, Madhesh, and Lumbini provinces, alongside heavy downpours in the Bagmati province and the Kathmandu Valley.

Travel Bans & Restrictions: The government has strictly urged citizens and tourists to avoid all long-distance and nighttime road travel from Friday through Sunday.

Trekking Suspended: All Himalayan trekking has been ordered to stand down. Trekkers currently in the mountains are being instructed to descend to safer, lower elevations immediately due to the risks of sudden landslides and heavy snowfall.

Permanent Danger Zones: Authorities recently announced that areas showing flood marks as high as 13 meters above normal river levels will be permanently declared "danger zones". An estimated 33,000 displaced people will never be allowed to return home and must be permanently resettled.

Nepal has filed a $20 million "loss-and-damage" claim to the UN global climate fund.

MISHAPS: -

Yamuna Expressway, Uttar Pradesh: An AC sleeper bus travelling from Delhi to Mahoba caught fire near Jewar late on September 23. Nine passengers died, and several others were injured. Police arrested the driver and conductor as the investigation continues. It is a very good access-controlled Expressway. I drove though it several times.

WEATHER:

IMD reported intense downpours across West Bengal triggered by an active southwest monsoon and a deep depression moving inland from the Bay of Bengal.

Asian Games, 2026: Indian runners clinched silver in the mixed 4x400m relay race at Nagoya. The quartet of Poovamma Raju, Vishal Thennarasu, Vithya Ramraj and Manu TS timed the run at 3 mins 14.46 seconds to defend India’s silver medal won in the last edition of the games in Hangzhou

Seema Kumari has bagged a bronze medal for India in the women’s 10,000 metre final at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi Nagoya in Japan.

NASA selected PRIMA (PRobe Far-Infrared Mission for Astrophysics) to move into Phase B, the stage covering preliminary design and technology development. It is the first mission in a new class of astrophysics missions called Probe Explorers, within the Explorers Program. NASA announced the decision on Wednesday, 23 September 2026.

Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launched the commercial use of bio-based biodegradable plastic based on Polylactic Acid (PLA), marking an important step in India’s transition towards next-generation sustainable manufacturing.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited commissioned its first Green Hydrogen (GH₂) electrolyser plant at its Manesar facility in Haryana on 24 September 2026. The plant has a capacity of 300 kW and functions as a pilot project for green hydrogen production and use in manufacturing operations.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) increased its forecast of economic growth for India to 7% for FY2026-27 from the 6.6% forecasted in July 2026. The increase was due to better-than-expected economic performance during the first quarter of FY2026-27 where GDP grew by 7.8% on an annual basis.

DALAL STREET:

The Indian stock market is facing severe selling pressure on September 25, 2026. The market remains deeply bearish. Investors are grappling with a toxic combination of surging global bond yields, volatile crude oil prices, and an impending regulatory overhaul of domestic insurance commission structures.

Nifty 50: Closed the previous session at 23,063.10 (down 1.64%). Analysts warn that if the index decisively violates the psychological 23,000 mark, it could trigger panic selling down toward the 22,700–22,600 range. Immediate resistance on a rebound is placed at 23,200.

BSE Sensex: Slipped to 73,580.92 (down 1.67%), hitting an intraday low of 73,563.92. This marks the worst single-session contraction for the headline indices in 10 weeks.

Nifty Bank: Settled down at 55,438. Bulls are actively fighting to defend the key weekly support level of 55,000.

India VIX (Fear Gauge): Spiked 22.64% to 12.68, recording its largest single-day surge since July 8. This sharp incline indicates rapidly rising fear and hedging behaviour among participants.

National Stock Exchange (NSE). Entering the secondary market with an initial valuation of ₹4.45 lakh crore, the exchange successfully listed at a 1% premium despite the overarching macro turbulence.
