Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has said that over the past 12 years, the gap between cities and villages in India has narrowed significantly. Indian Railways has approved the introduction of the Bhuj-Barauni Amrit Bharat Express, a tri-weekly long-distance train service numbered 19427/19428. The train will connect Bhuj in Gujarat with Barauni in Bihar over a route of 2,532 km and will pass through Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Uttar Pradesh government has released 403 crore rupees for development of 4,030 Ambedkar Statue Sites in the state. In the first phase of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Statue Site Development scheme, 10 statue sites in each of the 403 Assembly Constituencies, a total of 4,030 sites, will be developed.

India’s growing participation of women across diverse vocational technical skills is finding expression on the global stage at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, with 14 young women representing Team India across a wide spectrum of skill categories. The women competitors are part of India’s 70-member contingent competing across 63 skills at the 48th WorldSkills Competition being held in Shanghai from 22nd to 27th of September.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar held discussions with his Jamaican counterpart Kamina Johnson Smith, Foreign Ministers of Ghana Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Suriname Melvin Bouva and the President of East West Centre, Celeste Connors, in New York. In a social media post, Mr Jaishankar said that during the meeting, they discussed how the world will not be defined by binary choices and countries will continue to make their choices based on interests, values and trust.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar yesterday raised concerns over repeated attacks on commercial shipping and seafarers in the Gulf, Red Sea and Black Sea, saying that the attacks were no longer exceptional occurrences. Dr Jaishankar was addressing the inaugural meeting of the ‘Group of Friends on Safety and Security of Shipping and Seafarers’ during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

India has welcomed the commencement of the QUAD-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission, announced at the 11th Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi this year. The External Affairs Ministry said in a social media post that India Coast Guard ship Shaunak has sailed from Chennai with sea riders from all four Quad countries.

India and the Netherlands have forged collaboration in the water domain via two Tripartite Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) concerning the Kalpasar Project in Gujarat. The MoUs were executed by the Central Water Commission of India and the Kalpasar Department of the Government of Gujarat on one side and the Netherlands-based organizations Deltares and TU Delft on the other side.

Iran has proposed a seven-day diplomatic roadmap to the United States to end the ongoing war, reopen the blockaded Strait of Hormuz, and restart broader nuclear negotiations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and President Masoud Pezeshkian have publicly offered a step-by-step proposal: The Terms:

Iran has stated it will reopen the critical Strait of Hormuz shipping corridor and resume formal nuclear talks within a week.

The Demands: In exchange, Washington must lift its naval blockade, waive severe oil sanctions, and agree to a ceasefire that extends to Lebanon.

Timeline Pressures: Tehran explicitly noted a desire to finalize this agreement and return to the collapsed June Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) before the US midterm elections.

Uttar Pradesh government has decided to take strict action against hospitals that fail to comply with the Ayushman scheme’s rules and prescribed standards. For this purpose, the State Health Agency has constituted a four-member team. The team has also started conducting surprise inspections of hospitals empanelled under the scheme, State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS).

The Centre has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, in ‘disturbed areas’ of Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh for a period of six months with effect from 1st of October.

Astronomers have confirmed the existence of a Jupiter-sized planet that is less than a million years old. Named Elias 2-24 b, it is the youngest known planet, offering scientists a rare opportunity to observe a world in the early stages of its formation.

Surgeons of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) carried out 220 sight-restoring surgeries during the 10th edition of first-of-its-kind Mega Eye Surgical Camp, held under Operation Drishti in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation was held on the 24th and 25th of this month. Defence Ministry said that most interventions were cataract surgeries, along with selective retinal procedures and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth visited the camp and interacted with patients.
