FLASH FLOOD:
New Indian Express reports that incessant late-monsoon
rainfall across Nepal since September 24, 2026, has caused rain-induced
disasters resulting in at least 27 deaths.
Casualties and Disasters:
• 27 people have been killed by floods and landslides since
September 24.
• 4 people remain missing following the severe weather.
• 8 people have sustained injuries.
• Breakdown of deaths: 20 from landslides, 4 from floods,
and 3 from heavy rainfall incidents.
Infrastructure and Search Operations:
• Himlung Peak Avalanche: Search and rescue operations were suspended
following an avalanche at the base camp of Himlung peak, which left 4 dead and
12 missing (primarily Nepali expedition workers).
• Road Connectivity: Authorities restored partial
connectivity along blocked portions of major routes like the Prithvi and
Tribhuvan Highways after mudslides and debris disrupted transit.
• Flash Flood Warnings: Government agencies issued
high-alert warnings for potential flash floods across dozens of districts as
river levels rose.

for the most autonomous underwater vehicles operating simultaneously. The
record involved 116 autonomous underwater vehicles, or AUVs, named TH-618s,
which carried out autonomous underwater formation navigation without human
intervention for 34 minutes over 500 meters.
The first steel bridge for the Mumbai- Ahmedabad Bullet
Train Project in Maharashtra was launched on 28 September 2026 at Dive-Anjur
village in Bhiwandi, Thane district. The bridge spans NH-3, also known as the
Nashik Highway, and forms part of the high-speed rail corridor being developed
by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited.
