A SERIOUS READER OF MY BLOGS TOLD ME TO WRITE ABOUT THIS IPO. IT WAS A GOOD SUGGESTION. I AM WRITING IT, AND REQUESTING MY READERS TO SPREAD IT SO THAT NOBODY LOSE HIS HARD-EARNED MONEY.
Jio Platforms Limited is an Indian technology and digital
services company controlled by Reliance Industries Limited. It operates as an
integrated digital ecosystem combining mass connectivity with proprietary
software, cloud infrastructure, and artificial intelligence. It is not yet
listed.
PARAMETRIC DATA:
Market Cap:₹ 10,30,491/- Cr.| Debt:₹ 84,669/- Cr.| Earnings yield:4.48 %|
P/E: 34.2 | ROCE: 10.75.| D/E=0.25
Core Pillars of the Business
• Telecom & Connectivity: Through its primary
subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocom Limited (RJIL), it serves over 524 million
mobile, 5G, and fixed broadband (JioFiber and JioAirFiber) customers across
India.
• Consumer Digital Services: It offers entertainment, cloud
storage, and utility apps (such as JioTV, JioTV+, and JioSaavn), alongside
connected consumer hardware like JioBharat phones and set-top boxes.
• Enterprise & Cloud Solutions: It provides businesses
with enterprise connectivity, Internet of Things (IoT) services, managed
network operations, cloud infrastructure, and workplace tools.
• Proprietary Technology & AI: It develops an end-to-end
5G stack, 6G research, and AI-native platforms like JioBrain for network
automation and enterprise applications.
IPO plans
Jio Platforms Limited has officially filed its Red Herring
Prospectus (RHP) and is launching India's largest-ever Initial Public Offering
(IPO), set to open for public subscription on October 21, 2026.
The company aims to raise up to ₹30,213 crore entirely
through a fresh issue of 27 crore equity shares, commanding a massive post-IPO
valuation of approximately ₹10.3 lakh crore ($108.3 billion).
Key IPO Timeline & Structure
• Subscription Window: The IPO opens on Wednesday, October
21, 2026 and closes on Friday, October 23, 2026. Bidding for anchor investors
takes place on October 19, 2026.
• Price Band: The share price is set between ₹1,065 and ₹1,119 per
share.
• Lot Size: Retail investors can apply in lots of 12 shares,
requiring a minimum investment of ₹13,428 at the upper price band.
• Tentative Listing: Allotment is expected to be finalized
on October 26, 2026, with listing on the BSE and NSE scheduled for October 28,
2026.
Special Quotas & Allocations
• Reliance Industries (RIL) Shareholder Quota: Jio has
reserved 12% of the total issue (worth ₹2,500 crore) exclusively for eligible
RIL shareholders. Anyone holding even a single share of Reliance Industries on
or before the RHP filing date (October 14, 2026) qualifies. This allows retail
investors to submit two separate applications—one under the shareholder quota
and one under the general retail quota—to boost allotment chances.
• Employee Discount: Shares worth ₹500 crore are reserved
for eligible employees, who receive a ₹54.00 per share discount.
• Public Category Split: 35% of the net issue is allocated
to retail individual investors, 15% to non-institutional investors (NII), and
up to 50% to qualified institutional buyers (QIB).
Utilization of Capital
Because the IPO consists purely of a fresh issue with no
Offer for Sale (OFS) from existing stakeholders, 100% of the proceeds go
directly back to the company. Jio Platforms plans to deploy up to ₹27,500 crore
($2.89 billion) to prepay or repay outstanding borrowings at its telecom
subsidiary, with the remaining
capital funding future 5G/6G infrastructure and AI-focused capital expenditure.
SPECULATIVE FUTURE:
As of today, October 17, 2026, the Grey Market Premium (GMP)
for the Jio Platforms IPO is trading strongly between ₹220 and ₹230 per share.
• Upper Price Band: ₹1,119 per share.
• Current Premium (GMP): ~₹220 to ₹230.
• Indicative Listing Price: ₹1,339 to ₹1,349 per share.
• Expected Listing Gain: ~20% to 20.6% over the issue price.
WHAT EMERGE :
1.0 Earnings
yield:4.48 % is not attractive, and much less compared to AIRTEL. FAIR PRICE can’t
be calculated as I don’t have the Company’s last 5 years performance report.
2.0 ROCE
of AIRTEL is 17.57%, against 10.76% of JIO PLAFORMS.
3.0
Most of the amount received from IPO will be used to pay
back the existing loan of the Company. This will improve Rate of Annual Return
on Share.
4.0
I will apply for “LISTING GAIN”—and may add
later in my PORTFOLIO if it comes down
to Rs. 650-700/- per share after listing, which I expect.
5.0
IPO may be oversubscribed, as there is good ‘GMP’.
But even if one applies, may not get more than one LOT of 12 shares.
6.0
Unpledged Promoter’s Hold, at present=?? UNKNOWN. A very
important factor.
7.0
I understand—once it is listed for trading—more information will be
available to calculate the “FAIR VALUE” of unit share. A retail Individual
Investor then add this Company in his PORTFOLIO, at or below fair value.
