recommended an ordinance to reduce the legal requirement for declaring flood-
and landslide-missing persons dead from 12 years to 45 days.

Border Restrictions & Troop Recalls: Amid severe
manpower shortages caused by the expanding multi-front rebellion, the Frontier
Corps Baluchistan North is actively recalling retired military personnel to
re-enlist by October 30. Concurrently, over 5,500 Pakistani nationals have
re-entered Baluchistan across the Iran border due to the active regional
conflict.
CRIME
& PUNISHMENT:
The Supreme Court has directed the Centre to establish a
committee to examine pharmaceutical companies’ marketing practices, including
gifts and other benefits offered to doctors. The aim is to address unethical
promotional practices in the healthcare sector.
The Supreme Court has called for increased police
patrolling, improved surveillance and proper background verification of
public-transport and ride-sharing drivers to strengthen women’s safety.
WEATHER:
India Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rains
are likely to continue in Kerala today. Yellow Alert has been issued in nine of
the 14 districts, forecasting isolated heavy rainfall. Seven districts are
under Yellow Alert. There is also a warning of the possibility of sea incursion
along the coastal areas of Thiruvananthapuram district.

RBI Monetary Policy Committee increased the repo rate by 25
basis points to 5.50%. This marks the central bank's first interest rate hike
in nearly four years, completely reversing its prior stance as mounting
inflation risks and global headwinds take precedence.
The next bi-monthly review meeting of the MPC is on December
2 to 4, 2026.
RBI Governor explicitly stated that near-term rate cuts are
completely off the table, meaning the next move will either be another hike or
a pause.
