Multi-state crackdown: --
 - In a
multi-state crackdown, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has
detained several members of a nexus of Khalistani terrorists, gangsters
     and drug-smugglers.
- Punjab,
Haryana, Delhi, U.P., Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and H.P. are covered.
- Till
27th, 53 locations were raided during the day-long operation,
     which started Wednesday morning.
- Pistols,
ammunition, large numbers of digital devices and incriminating material,
and Cash-- were seized during the raids across the states stated above.
On radar: -
 - The
raids were related to cases lodged against the associates of Arsh Dalla, a
listed terrorist, and many dreaded gangsters, a spokesperson of the
     federal agency said.
- Besides
Dalla, others under the NIA scanner in these raids were notorious
gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Sukha Duneke, Harry Maur, Narender alias Lali,
Kala Jatheri and Deepak Tinu, the spokesperson said.
- According
to news reports, they are suspected to have links with Khalistani
     terrorists, in and outside INDIA.
Action so far: -
 - The
raids were the seventh in the series that began in August 2022 after NIA
registered five cases, including two against organised criminal gangs.
- The
agency has so far frozen 87 bank accounts, attached 13 properties and
seized 331 digital devices, 418 documents and two vehicles, news agencies
     reported.
The probe: -
 - NIA
investigation indicates conspiracies being hatched in jails of different
states, and subsequently executed by an organised network of operatives
     based abroad.
- Notable
among such conspiracies were the sensational killing of Maharashtra
builder Sanjay Biyani, mining trader Mehal Singh and international kabaddi
player Sandeep Nangal Ambia in Punjab in 2022.
Meanwhile...
 - External
Affairs Minister Mr. S Jaishankar, in a rebuke to the allegations levelled
by Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, denied India's involvement in the murder
case of -Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. He said, "This is
not the government of India's policy."
- Mr. Jaishankar
further said that Canada has created a "very permissive"
environment for extremism and organised crime because of political expediency.
