CRIME & PUNISHMENT:

PARIS (AP) — Thieves entered the Louvre from the outside using a basket lift on Sunday and made away with priceless jewels, France's interior minister said, as the museum closed for the day.

MISHAPS: -

Four people were killed on Sunday after "country-made" firecrackers stored in a house at Thandurai exploded, Tamil Nadu, Avadi police said.

A 19-year-old white tiger Named 'Sameer',  died at Sri Venkateshwara (SV) Zoological Park (Tirupati Zoo) on Sunday due to age-related ailments. The big cat was transferred to  from Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad in 2011 when he was five years old.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL: -

Two simultaneous low-pressure systems are developing over the seas surrounding peninsular India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said, warning of potential intensification over the next 48 hours. According to the latest IMD bulletin, a well-marked low-pressure area persists over the Kumarakom coast and the adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal.

In Hockey, India won a silver medal after losing narrowly to Australia, 2-1 in the final of Sultan of Johor Cup 2025 in Malaysia.

Indian shooter Zoravar Singh Sandhu made history by winning bronze in men’s trap at the ISSF World Championship Shotgun 2025 in Athens, Greece.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a strongly worded note mourning the deaths of three aspiring Afghan cricketers – Kabeer Agha, Sibghatullah, and Haroon, killed in a Pakistan airstrike in Afghanistan’s Paktika province. The players had returned home after participating in a friendly cricket match when they were killed in an attack that also claimed the lives of several civilians.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also expressed condolences, standing in solidarity with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and the families of the victims.  

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has withdrawn from the upcoming T20 International tri-series with Pakistan to be held next month.

Writers also, somewhat loosely used the nomenclatures in their writings.
