HEAT WAVE AND EFFECT IN EUROPE:
"Omega" heatwave currently moving eastward across
the continent has exposed critical, systemic vulnerabilities in the European
electricity grid. As temperatures shatter historical June records and climb
past 40°C, the grid is facing an acute crisis driven by a dangerous convergence
of supply failures and surging demand.
Ukraine’s Rolling Blackouts: As the intense heatwave takes
direct aim at Ukraine's war-damaged power grid. .
Wildfires & Outages in the Balkans: The extreme weather
has sparked widespread wildfires across the Balkan peninsula. The fires,
combined with localized grid strain from peak air conditioning loads, are
creating severe power deficits and regional distribution faults.
Western Europe (France, Spain, Italy): Having just borne the
brunt of the heatwave's initial wave, power systems here remain severely
stressed. Record demand for air conditioning has triggered spot price spikes in
European electricity markets. The immediate weather crisis highlights a deeper,
structural flaw in the European Union’s energy transition layout and
infrastructure bottlenecks.
According to the European Commission's Grid Action Plan,
nearly 40% of Europe’s distribution grids are over 40 years old. To modernize
cross-border lines, double transmission capacity, and prevent catastrophic
summer blackouts, the EU requires a massive €584
billion in targeted grid investments by 2030.

HORMUZ:
Control of the Strait of Hormuz is the strongest card Iran
has and it doesn’t want it to be diluted by the participation of other
countries.
Iran said it’s not going to allow any other country to
participate in the de-mining of the Strait of Hormuz.
