In Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha  called for sustained pressure on terror networks and intensified area domination operations to decisively eliminate emerging security threats in the Union Territory.

The month-long population enumeration in snow-bound areas of Jammu & Kashmir will began yesterday, with enumerators set to physically visit households to record details in 16 districts of the Union Territory.

The meeting focused on accelerating implementation of the PM-DDKY scheme in the 100 identified districts.

Indian Railways has approved one hundred twenty five crore rupees Bhavnagar Para Yard Remodelling Project in Gujarat.  Indian Railways has also approved 170 crore rupees for Kavach 4.0 on the remaining 712 Route Kilometres of Moradabad Division, Northern Railway.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed that eligible poor and meritorious Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students admitted to government medical and engineering colleges will not have to deposit admission, tuition and other applicable fees at the time of admission or for six months afterwards.

The Government has reduced the stock holding limit for sugar dealers from four thousand quintals to two thousand quintals effective from the 15th of this month till the 30th of November this year.

 Defence Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday reviewed the annual performance of 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) in New Delhi. The 4th Meeting of the India–Denmark Joint Working Group on MSME development, innovation and intellectual property was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 24 to 28 August 2026. The talks involved the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of India and the Danish Patent and Trademark Office, with discussions on technology adoption, technology commercialisation and IP-led growth.

Baloch National Movement (BNM) staged a protest in the Netherlands’ Utrecht city, drawing international attention to the ongoing abuses by Pakistani forces in Balochistan, including the enforced disappearance of thousands of people, extrajudicial killings and other serious human rights violations.

West Asia Conflict: Strikes and Retaliations: Pre-emptive U.S. Attacks: U.S. forces struck two rocket launchers on Iran's Larak Island to prevent the deployment of sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran Retaliates on U.S. Bases: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) retaliated yesterday by launching heavy ballistic missile strikes targeting U.S. drone hangars at the Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, claiming to have destroyed equipment and personnel.

US Security Alerts: In response to the kinetic flare-up, the U.S. issued strict new security warnings for American citizens residing across Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, advising them to prepare for sudden airspace closures and flight cancellations.

The Middle East Energy 2026 event is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre in UAE from 1st to 3rd September. It is one of the largest international trade exhibitions and conferences for the power and energy industry in the West Asia Region. Death Toll Surpasses 1,050.

Hydropower Tunnel Race: At least 639 workers remain unaccounted for or trapped within mud-filled tunnels along the Bhotkosi and Trishuli river corridors. The international rescue team—spearheaded by Nepalese, Indian, and Chinese military personnel—has successfully extricated 279 people from the sites so far using air pumps and controlled tactical explosions.

19-member specialized Indian medical forensics team has expanded its operations in Kathmandu to handle DNA analysis for victim identification.

Foreign Tourist Influx: Over 11,000 people have been rescued globally, including at least 330 foreign nationals. However, 583 foreign nationals remain out of contact.

Indian Rescue Operations: Specialised Indian tunnel rescue teams made breakthrough progress yesterday, tunnelling up to 185 meters at the Langtang and Chilima hydropower facilities, the team reached  hundreds of trapped local labourers.

Total 204 Indians are rescued as per MEA.

Supreme Court Quashes NEET Protest FIRs: In a major relief to student agitators, the Supreme Court invoked its extraordinary plenary powers under Article 142 to quash all police FIRs registered across India regarding the NEET-UG protests. Following this, organizers officially called off their massive planned demonstrations in New Delhi.

EVM Totalizers Case: The Supreme Court formally sought the Centre's stance on introducing "totalizers" to blend and count EVM votes simultaneously, aiming to protect voter privacy by hiding booth-wise voting trends

MISHAPS: -

A major traffic disruption on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Vadodara occurred after a trailer rammed into an LPG tanker. No injuries were reported, but emergency teams managed a high-alert fuel transfer operation that temporarily halted normal traffic flow
