Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Nasha Mukt Bharat 2029 roadmap in Panaji, Goa, on 6 September 2026 after a state security and narcotics review meeting with Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Once implemented, commuters will be able to use a single pass for travel on both Metro Rail trains and RTC buses.

India backs UN world-map resolution — The Ministry of External Affairs has stressed that maps showing India must follow the country’s official position on Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Xavier Bettel will undertake a three-day official visit to India from 7 to 9 September.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is likely to visit India again in October, signalling continued momentum in the Quad’s diplomatic engagements

North Korea commissions new warship: Kim Jong Un has commissioned a second 5,000-ton naval destroyer, equipped with nuclear-capable missiles. North Korea also launched about 10 short-range ballistic missiles as a U.S.–South Korea–Japan military exercise began.

China–Nepal border flood aftermath: China is maintaining tight control over information about devastating floods along the border with Nepal, where the disaster has caused major casualties and disruption.

South Korea–France ties: South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is visiting France from September 6–9 for talks with President Emmanuel Macron, including discussions on bilateral cooperation.

BALOCH FILES:

BLA Double-Strike Claims: The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), through its media wing Hakal, released propaganda video footage regarding a "double strike" targeting Pakistani security forces. The group claimed to have killed 25 military personnel in separate ambushes at Ziarat Cross and Surab.

Quetta Police Station Attack: Unidentified individuals threw three hand grenades at the Shalkot police station in the Hazar Ganji area of Quetta, leaving a police officer injured.

Civilian Casualties and Enforced Disappearances: Local reports alleged that Pakistani forces detained and subjected roughly 25 residents from the Sunni area of Zehri to enforced disappearance. Allegations also surfaced that a local woman collecting water was killed in a quadcopter drone strike. Due to suspended mobile networks, independent verification of these events remains difficult.

NEPAL FLOOD:

Tunnel & Infrastructure Searches: Intense efforts are focused on flooded hydropower facility tunnels (such as the Upper Trishuli complexes) where workers were trapped. International tunnel rescue teams from India, China, and the Republic of Korea are actively working alongside the Nepali Army.

Operational Challenges: Search teams are facing extreme challenges due to severe mud, difficult Himalayan geography, damaged connectivity, and the ongoing risk of secondary landslides.

China's primary land port and customs crossing with Nepal at Gyirong was entirely destroyed by the torrents.

The United Nations has launched a $50 million emergency appeal to support over 84,000 affected people, warning of severe threats regarding sanitation, destroyed livelihoods, and waterborne diseases like cholera.

GULF WAR:

Hormuz "Exclusion Zone" & Tanker Warfare: The newly appointed head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, announced that Tehran will declare a formal "exclusion zone" outside the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days. The zone is slated to extend from the edge of the U.S. Navy's blockade line, and Iran has warned that any vessels breaching this perimeter will be added to its sanctions list. Iran claims it is finalizing alternative shipping routes via a memorandum with Oman.

Retaliation Warnings: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf issued a stark televised warning, claiming the "rules of the game have changed" and that any future U.S. actions will face a "faster, heavier, and more painful response".

President Donald Trump openly raised the prospect of a new operation targeting a suspected Iranian nuclear site south of Tehran.

Regional Fronts (Lebanon & Israel):

Ali al-Taher Ridge Fallout: The Israel Défense Forces (IDF) recently announced the full clearing of a massive, Iranian-financed underground Hezbollah nerve center beneath the Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon. Intelligence reports indicate several IRGC personnel had been trapped or embedded alongside Hezbollah fighters inside the facility.

In response to growing domestic poll pressure ahead of Israel's October 27 Knesset elections, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly reiterated vows to strike Iran directly if Tehran attempts an attack on Israeli soil.

CRIME & PUNISHMENT:

The Kolkata Police summoned former TMC MLA Humayun Kabir to appear for questioning this Wednesday for leading Vandalism at Camac Street Building.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has carried out searches at 89 locations across 20 States in connection with three major “digital arrest” scam cases as part of Operation Chakra-VI, arresting three persons so far.

Madhya Pradesh government took major action in the suspected poisonous and illegal liquor case in Sagar. Three excise officials have been suspended. Another official has been removed from the district and attached to the headquarters. The Chief Minister said that no person found guilty in the case will be spared.

MISHAPS: -

A massive fire broke out at a chemical factory in the Chitpur area of North Kolkata on Sunday evening. Multiple fire tenders successfully battled the blaze, and authorities reported zero casualties.

At least five people were killed when a five-storeyed building housing college students collapsed on Sunday (September 6, 2026) in South West Delhi’s Satya Niketan, a dense hub for paying guest or PG accommodation near Delhi University‘s South Campus.

ENVIRONMENTAL : -

The Kalimpong district administration of West Bengal issued an emergency high alert for residents living along the lower Teesta River basin. This followed a massive landslide in Mangan district, Sikkim, which partially blocked the river flow. A heavy landslide partially blocked Teesta River Near Chyakoong in Mangan district, Sikkim. Mangan, East and Pakyong districts administration has also issued a high alert to the people of Sikkim, dwelling in downstream Teesta river basin areas.

Floods have affected normal life in several parts of Bihar, with major rivers, including the Ganga, Gandak and Kosi, flowing above the danger mark. The Ganga river has crossed the Highest Flood Level at several ghats in Patna.

WEATHER:

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that a low-pressure system moving east from Uttar Pradesh will bring widespread heavy rain and severe thunderstorms to South and North Bengal until at least September 9.

TECHNOLOGY:

Google has launched India-first artificial intelligence models for agriculture through Google DeepMind’s Anthro Krishi team. The two models are Agricultural Landscape Understanding (ALU) and Agricultural Monitoring and Event Detection (AMED), and they are designed to generate field-level agricultural intelligence.
